'course, as your front tire wears, the speedo's gonna be off progressively, anyway...![]()
and I have learned quite a bit
(stock front tire size 120/60-17)
speedo error with the stock MeZ4 tires
3-4% new to 6-7% worn
Dunlop D205
6-7% new 11-12% worn
Pirelli MTR60 (120/70)
+1% new -2% worn
Avon Azaro
3-4% new 5-6% worn
Avon Distanzia (120/20)
+3% new 0-1% worn

Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I'm also understanding that centrifugal force plays a role on tire expansion, and thus helps to compensate some for the speedo error.
So even though the basic speedo error will multiply with increased speed, the expansion factor will work against this margin of error to some degree.
At greater speed the outside diameter of the tire grows taller by applying more rotational force. This change in overall diameter and circumference will actually work against the speedo reading higher than actual, by increasing the distance the bike travels for each complete rotation of the wheel. The expansion may not be large enough to keep the speed reading constant, but it certainly helps to balance for some of the increase in indicated speedometer speed.
http://www3.mtco.com/bry/SpeedoError/CalcSpeed.htm
Old Tire Diameter: 17 in
New Tire Diameter: 17.5 in (Expanded Tire at Speed)
Indicated Speed: 60 (MPH)
Actual Speed: 61.764705882352935 (MPH)
The rigidity of a tire can also have an effect on the amount of expansion that occurs and thus the delta between actual and indicated speeds. Just something to think about.

I haven't attempted this detailed of a check, but I do alter the cirumference input to the computer by 50-75mm or so. This way I am averaging roughly the correct mph and odo.
