I got $10 that says the Ninja carbs don't fit. They are 30 or 32mm (older model) and I'm thinking the SRX has 26mm carbs. I think you'd be better sourcing carbs from something smaller, like a DRZ125, or a pair of Banshee carbs.

I have an SRX250 too. Mine was running when I bought it a couple of years back. This winter I started a small repair project which got away from me and now mine is completely disassembled. The complete disassembly started with tubeless tires that leaked down because of several rough oxidation spots on the rims. After taking the tires off, I decided with winter, I'd have time to also repaint the frame. So, I started stripping down the bike. When I drained the oil, it was full of plastic epoxy bits and some metal. So, I disassembled the engine. The photos show what I found.
It appears one of the counterbalance gears had an epoxy like coating that came off and was chewed up by the primary, counter balance and transmission gears. No one I've shown these photos too has ever seen anything like this. Do either of the counterbalance gears on your SRX250 have a coating on it that looks like the pieces shown? Any other ideas about the brown epoxy bits that fit only the crankshaft counter balance gear?
Last summer, my son stopped while we were on a ride with the bike because the engine made a grinding noise. I rode it for a while and didn't hear anything odd. The bike was ridden off an on for the rest of the summer.

Looks like someone put "stop leak" in the crankcase and then left it there.... for a long time. Ha, I'm just guessing, but that doesn't look like anything that would've come from the factory like that.
