i have a 1977 suzuki gs 550 im buying in about a week. Id like to find out if there is any rims/tire combos i can get from another bike that would bolt up id like it to be wider i plane to cafe the bike at some point but just planning to ride it the rest of this year till winter. Any help would be great thanks alot
I suspect that the limiting factor will be swingarm clearance. My '82 GS1000S Katana had a bit of extra room (box-section swingarm), but my '81 GS450S (tubular swingarm, older design) had almost no room for a wider tire.
Go fast. Have fun. Repeat.
Narrower tires are more fun, IMO.
+1!
I've made the mistake of trying to get wider tires than stock on a bike. I found out after spending the money that there's no practical benefit, just the visual one.

I've got a set of wheels from a late 70s Suzuki GS750ES kicking around that I might be looking to sell. I have no idea if they're compatible with your bike, but I can find out what size tires are currently mounted on them if you'd like.
Just an opinion, but wider tires don't really jive with the cafe look.
