Someone(two-can dan) from the "other"() website just got a bike stolen. Very crappy story...he bought this wrecked tlr from another member of odfu and rebuilt the thing to new condition. He spent a lot of time and money to make the thing cherry and like no other TLR out there...and some fuck stick takes right outa his driveway

From what I understand from the thread there are a couple of distinct parts on it.
1. The color..white and burgundy
2. polished frame
3. Blue oil filler cap and rear brake filler cap
4. D&D pipes
edit - It was taken from the Bristol, CT area
thanx for the heads-up... hope it's found before it's nothin' but a collection of spare parts scattered to the four winds...![]()

Those FUCKERS! What do these people do watch us fixing our shit up so that they can pinch it right after it gets parked? (that's what happened to my GSXR last spring too). That sucks. Will be on the look out.

Ever heard of "stakeout"? Some guys should organize one....have one of the guys use his own bike as a bait, hide in a van. Wait for the thief to come and...boom. Give him a lesson he won't soon forget. Or better yet, I heard something that could be more wise: instead of grabbing the guy and get him into the van, you LET HIM (or them) take the bike and you follow them...then you call the cops. You could as well find more stolen bikes/parts from other stolen bikes.![]()

That really sucks. I hope it can be recovered. I'd have to think it's already been parted out. I know thieves are morons, but that thing is so unique it'd be pure darwin award material to ride it.
Ben
nope, because I don't get involved in that kind of activites. But apparently, many people wouldn't mind the trouble, and nothing would happen to the bike anyway, as the guys would be there to do something before anything can happen to it. I've seen a documentary on TV a while back, a gang of guys started to do stakeouts every once in a while, and every time, they would catch a thief trying to steel the bike. sometimes they had to wait 2-3 nights in a row, but a thief would always come. The guy would take a good beat in the van, and then they would let him go, telling him to make sure to tell all of his friends thieves that there is a new "gang in town" waiting for them...
I think the idea of following the thieves is better, as I said, you might find more stolen stuff hidden at their place.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
Don't know if it's a good thing or not. But there's not much of a market out there for used, stock TL-R parts. By stock, I mean he's still got the stock rear rotary damper on it, the exhaust is just a slip-on (stock headers & collector), no undertail/hugger/fender eliminator, stock swingarm, OEM wheels, and it looks like the stock front end. Those are most of the items TL-R owners shoot to replace with aftermarket schtuff...
Not saying he HASN'T put a huge effort into getting it all worthy. But I'd venture a guess that it was taken purely for the thrill of taking it, or even just for a joy ride. I'm guessing - and hoping - it doesn't get stripped down to a shell...
I'd also venture a guess that the theive(s) had no idea what they were taking. My bank is on the probable fact that they may have thought they were grabbing the Holy Grail of sportbike thefts, a Gixxer....
None the less, that totally blows. I'd go fuggin' nuts if my TL-R disappeared. I feel for the guy...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?

I know a website where many guys had all the parts on their bike being engraved, so if the bike get stolen, it's gonna be a pain in the ass for them to re-sale the parts...

Beware when buying an alarm for you m/c. I know of a coupla people that had high end alarms (one of 'em had a pager) and they both went through batteries (m/c) like there was no end. Not sure if they were using m/c specific alarms though...

Hmm, interesting point, for this system has a back up power capacitor addition you can buy... Obviously, there's a reason for that...Where can I find more information about this "backup capacitor"? Because unless it's the size of...oh I don't know...your house, it's not really going to help prevent your battery from discharging.
Just curious how weasely the marketing types really are...

OK EVERYONE: UPDATE...
Alex just called me cause he doesnt have dans home or work number handy in his truck. he was driving down route 6 in bristol by route 72 and saw a Very rusty shitbox Dodge Dakota Sport pickup truck, mostly red in color with black accents passing the other way with dans TL in back. he made a uturn as quickly as he could and tried to follow but traffic was heavy. he saw no plate, temporrary or regular, and didn't get a good look at the driver. The truck was headed out of bristol towards route 8. Alex tried everything he could to keep up... got to route 8 and lost him. didn't see him on side roads. keep your eyes out.
