Charlestown, MA. near the NAvy Yard 1st Street. Under the Tobin Bridge on the pier side................
I'll guess Highsider didn't get my phone call to put out to the list as an FYI...LAST NIGHT.........
Here's what I think:
The bike is either STRIPED, (all plastics) or completely naked................. an interesting look.
It has Mass tags on it. Sorry,
didn't see them up close.
Color is yellow, no fairing so I don't know if its a 996 or smaller. NO SEAT either, which could make it the ultimate in no theft countermeasure..............
Posting this to see if it fits a missing bike.

That's a nice area, why would you say that?Originally posted by Suf Daddy

Is it actually under the bridge on the grass, the road, or over by 1st street?
there's a normal bike parked next to it.
Its ON 1st street backed to the curb.
by the BU medical building and parking garage.........

hmph. I'll have to take a spin by there and see of what you speak.
Now what are you doing under the bridge, is my next question![]()
Getting my car from the parking garage after some cocktails at the Tavern on the Water...................
Bikes' on first street, not exactly under the bridge.
Wear the ski mask. LOL

I must be on the wrong side...I cruised over First...but I think I'm in the wrong part. You do NOT mean by the park/Barracks right? I cruised under the bridge and around the general area and saw nothing that piqued the interest.
Oddly, a few minutes after a casing of the nearby blocks I pulled onto Rutherford and a yellow 996 went by me as I moved up to 99. But it was fully faired and didn't look the role. Did make me wonder if it's some OCD-type guy that stores his bike sans everything to prevent theft???...weird.
Nah, it's a nomex balaclava pullover when I'm working. It's mostly just for comfort with the helmet. Thankfully most people can't see inside the ride anywaysOriginally posted by Suf Daddy

That area of town gets a good bit of attention due to it's density of critical assets and as thus, marked patrols are decreased. When they do roll through they tend to pick apart anything out of place if not for any other reason then to make the feds and sp's look bad I think. Even though we all know those helicopters aren't looking for stolen bikes![]()
ie: anyone that is keeping a hot machine has gotta be stonde.
At the courthouse square by the 93S ramps turn right towrds the inner harbor channel. This parallels Rt 1 and the Tobin.
At the crest of the hill go right at the traffic light intoThe navy yard area (there is a sign for the tavern) Left at the guard shack entrabnce (which is the left edge of the Ironsides Navy yard area)
THIS IS first street.
near the end on the right curb should be two bikes.

That it peaked my interest that the owner could be doing the amazing job of anti-thefting his ride by even taking the seat off!
Suf Daddy.
Ahhh...I gotcha, I was rolling down first and didn't start looking till I was actually by the barracks/ironsides entrada. Was a little warm and there were lots of other distractions taking place at the time...but now I'll have to make a special trip out thereOriginally posted by Suf Daddy

Lucky - I work there too, sorta...in a few of the Conference Centers at the other end.
When I was writing down the tag and VIN # this morning a guy asked me if it was my bike, and I said no...it just looks suspicious, and I'm just grabbing the #'s. I told him I thought the bike may have been dumped there, but he said he's seen it parked all over 1st St. So it sounds like it's a local bike. I'm wondering if the owner is out of town and has no clue? There was another bike, a kawasaki zx6 (i think it was) no cover, no lock, but intact. Do you think I should call Ctown police and have them look into it?
The tag= MA HZ6839
The VIN=ZDM1LABP73B001767
I work for Partners IS. I'm over at OCC..not technically in the Navy Yard but close enough I guess. Do you work for MGH/Partners?Lucky - I work there too, sorta...in a few of the Conference Centers at the other end.

Here's the problem:
If its really some guy who has a wild way of keeping thives away from his bike, I don't want to cost the guy tow and storage fees.
But its a flip of the coin, Its either a dumping spot, or a Lo-Jack cool off area.
I'd say call the police and tell them the story and see if they'll run the tags as stolen or not.
If not stolen then leave it I guess.
Same for the 600.

Post the VIN and I will call my friend, he's an MSP Trooper.
He can call the owner and find out if he knows the bike is a streetfighter, or if he's been owned by bandits...

I saw the Duc that you were talking about as I was heading home from the Museum of Science. I think I saw the owner riding it through the Cambridge area.
Nice bike, interesting look without the mid and lower fairings.
Ducati's are expensive! Maybe he's just buying it in installments...![]()
