The foam filter is $30

The K&N Filter is ~$100
Amazon.com: K&N KT-5201 KTM X-Stream Motocross Air Filter: Automotive
So for $70, does anybody know if the K&N Kit is actually less restrictive than the foam option?
Since it's for a motard, I don't think dust capacity is really that important.
I'd just clean and re-oil the filter that is in there (preferably trackside with fork oil and a turkey baster), but it's got a bunch of fiberglass on it from a leaky exhaust can that I plan to replace so I'd rather just replace the filter altogether.

You can get a NoToil pre-oiled one for $30 or less if you REALLY wanna go the easy route.
Personally I'm not a fan of K&Ns or oiled paper in general.

They let more dirt past, and they don't flow anywhere near as well once you clean them and re-oil.
