    Even if you DID manage to magically get all the water out, you still don't want to leave the cooling system dry as bare aluminum can and will oxidize, the little flakes will break off and they will circulate throughout the system possibly causing other issues later on.

    It's only going to oxidize as much air as there is in a (closed) system. If everything is buttoned up (radiator cap, etc.) there's very little air in there. I wouldn't worry about it.

    With an empty cooling system, when the surfaces have condensation that repeatedly appears and dissipates as the temps change it only adds to the problem.

    Still think there's nothing to worry about?

    Q: Is it in danger in your basement?
    A: Are there water pipes in that area? If so then no, your bike won't freeze either.
