let's communicate
which radio is decent? the one i have sucks. don't work half the time. at highway speed, 65, forget about it. i want a new one.
i read the guide on FRS/GMSR. seems like to get the most out of max range, you have to go GMRS, channel 15-22, but requires license and fee is not cheap. on last ride, i can hear someone talking fine at around 50 and we were on channel 8? FRS is 1-14 has max range up to 2miles.
"fuckit!"
It's not the radio. At 65 you can't hear it because of wind noise either in your helmet or the mic of the person trying to talk to you. Either way, you're going to have to slow down to communicate clearly. As for range, that doesn't matter a whole lot either. It's line of site. If you're on a road that is straight for over 2 miles, you won't be talking to me cause I will have exited for some twisties.![]()
so the whole FRS/GMSR thing is mainly for harley riders whom travel in wheelchair speed.

im not so sure it's the wind alone. at first i tested it with someone in the car and they can hear me ok above 65. i also can hear them ok. when i used it with another rider, it was crap even 40-50. it might have been one of my pair radio is bad. i'm thinking of getting this one.
Motorola - Talkabout 25-Mile, 22-Channel FRS/GMRS 2-Way Radios (Pair) - T9500XLR
oh and if you exited 2 miles ahead then the more reason we could use GMRS.
i'd be like "any cops ahead?"

No one gets the license for GMRS.. I'm going with another chatter box the new blue tooth..
Technology is slowly making it's way to motorcycles. It shouldn't be much longer till you can have Bluetooth comms at reasonable prices...
Helmet Bluetooth
looks like the new chatterbox BlueTooth, is right around $300 on ebay, but if you don't want the bluetooth the regular X1 can be had for less then 200 on egay..
Dude, when we were on Rt.149 that day I hit the brakes so hard I nearly endo'ed. For future reference, if you're following me in the twisties and I endo, there's a COP ahead!!! When I'm all over the clutch and brakes, I'll be damned if I'm going to tap my helmet or key my push-to-talk.
thats why I need one of these, and I will soon have..
