Suggestion on new suit

Spidi boots do really really suck but there Suits are great. If you have never owned one you don't really know. There customer service since opening a US branch has been great in my dealings & im sure that's one reason why they opened one. I have had over 10 suites from various manufactures & Spidi is my favorite by far. They started out making gloves first & have heard there gloves are really good as well but I have never owned a pair to comment on them. Sav you are close to my size feel free to come down to the shop & try on a few of my suites if you want

What is full grain leather? It's not cow clearly. Is it shit? My current is 100 cow and id like to stick with what I know works.

A* I am 44/54. But that's all I know. I'm 6ft. 158lbs and it fits like it's custom on me. 31-32 waist.
I would like to know if these suits are good though.

I have the Carver and I like it a lot.

Not a shitload of comparison experience, but it allows me to move well.

Not crash tested (knock wood).

Something I've learned from crashing my budget suit: be ware of lots of large stretch panels. Suit does the trick and I trust it. But it is closer to one-and-done like street textiles than something I would beat on repeatedly.

My next will be a high dollar suit that is leather from head to toe. Someday.

hmmm wondering if alpinestars has changed their sizing...
I am perfect in my 44/54 but looks like I would have to get a 42/52 now...

How did you get customer service at all?

My buddy with a dealership says they are great too (a year after I needed a contact), but as a consumer I couldn't get ahold of anybody. Tried everything.

Maybe they just don't give a shit about the user of the product but want to keep retailers happy?

I suspect your problem with the stretch panels is because your suit doesn't fit properly.

I know its not an option for Sav right now but everyone owes it to themselves if they are gonna be track riding for awhile to get a custom suit. if you wanna get truly expensive then fly to England and get measured up for a Spyke (they aren't too keen on you measuring yourself)

IIRC full grain means it hasn't been split to reduce the thickness. Should be stronger than thicker pieces that were split down to the same thickness.

AXO makes an awesome suit for a very reasonable price. I've been down in mine quite few times and it has held up very well. A little snug off bike but on the bike moves very easy, breaths well, and is very comfortable. There top line off the rac "Indy racer" suit is only 1k. they also have a model under that one for 700. This is the one that i have and like i said it has held up real well. Another bonus (to me at least) is that they are also an American made company.

My problem with the stretch panel is that it is the first part of the suit to fail.

I'm talking the large fabric sections cheaper suits (including those Savas liked) have in the crotch, insides of the legs, and insides of the arms. I am not talking about accordion sections at the waist, knees, etc.

Although you are correct. My suit could fit better. It isn't a bad fit though; just a bit long in the thigh. I have this problem with almost all off-the-rack gear.

I have an Alpinestars Trigger suit, I have had the same issue with all the stretch panneling. After two relatively gentle lowsides, it has a decent sized hole in the stretch pannel behind my lower leg, and another smaller hole on the inside forearm. Probably more damage after my most recent incident, but I havent yet figured out what to do about the 1/4" of mud caked on it.

My Dainese Laguna suit has some holes in the stretch panels on the left knee that match up with scars on my leg. I hate stretch panels around the knee for this reason. The GP Pro suit looks pretty good in this regard.

oh ok I was thinking the leather according panels.

in all of my crashes I never ripped the stretch material in my Pilot suit. 1 crash at over 100 in my Heroic suit and got maybe a 1/4-1/2" rip. Pilot only uses Schoeller Keprotec while Heroic uses Keprotec and stretch cordura. I think the piece I ripped was cordura. It was weird though cause it was on the front of my hip and I slid on my outside hip and back. so it really makes a difference in which material is actually used there. and of course placement of it is big. it should only be used in areas that are unlikely to touch pavement although you can't prevent everything.

You should be a 40, 42 max in A* (I am 40, though I'm 3" shorter than you I have the same waist). Try mine on at the Classic, if you can wait that long. Unless they've changed their sizing since 2008.

At 6' tall, I find it highly unlikely that he is going to fit in a 40.

I am 5'6 and, while I have some room in the legs, the torso is maxed out.

42/52 all day Sav - A* will fit perfect and Dainese will be a bit tight at that size.

I am 44 in my current. Not sure how old it is. I'll be visiting justin tomorrow and testing some suits there
