Just a disclaimer: I am NOT trying to brag or show off, this is a legitimate question.
I used to be hardcore into weight lifting, and as a result, I kinda have a big quad/ass area, in relation to my waist. I tried on some leather riding gear a few days ago, and if I get it so that it fits at my waist, its way too tight across my upper quad area. If I get it so that it fits there, I have a bunch of extra material bunching up in other areas, especially when hunched over.
I should have written down brands, but I forgot to in my frustration.
If anyone else has run into this problem, what did you do? I don't want to count on leather stretching that much. I think the best solution might be to buy them big, and have a leather place take in them a bit. Of course, that cuts into the budget for the pants themselves.

Unfortunately that sounds like the best option. Depending on how much you are looking to spend, you might be best with a custom suit that will fit right and not have extra stitching that could cause the integrity of the seams to be in question. Being 6'5" 240 I feel your pain. I got lucky. Never weight lifted!, but most racers are small and skinny!

Vanson Leathers does custom fitting and stitching. Go find a suit style you like and have them custom fit you.
Well...not necessarily looking for a race suit, just a pair of pants that isn't denim/kevlar with some cheap armor inside.
Either way, I run into the same problem regardless of material, so I guess I'll have to have some fitting done. Will normal tailors do textile pants?

They are running a special right now, $450 for a custom suit. I may be getting one soon.
i have the same problem with you but im a poor college student. im just on the cuff of my quads and ass being too big for my suit as well as my chest and back. the height and waist fit fine, but i think i will need a tailored suit next year. when i did some research, the best way was to buy it big and then have it taken down in the areas needed. Vanson and Barnical Bills comes to mind.

Suppose I should have been expecting that from the get-go.
