A not so newb question...but figured I would ask. Searching is difficult, pretty much because everyone perfers leathers. But today is a great day to bring this up considering it 96 degrees with like 90% humidityAnd the ride home will be brutal..
But I would like to get some pants (jeans maybe) or overpants to ride with both out and about but also to work. Ones that will keep the swass down to a minimum. CE knees are a must.
Anyone rocking anything like this. I have been thinking about these:
Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 Mesh Motorcycle Overpants :: New Enough Motorcycle Apparel
I have the Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants... In a large I can wear them as overpants, or cinch them down and wear them alone. I like them a lot, but it still gets pretty soupy down there in weather like this.
My non-perf black leather pants are gonna be some kinda ball-roasting toasty this afternoon.......

I have a pair of Fieldsheer Sport Air perfed leathers and they're pretty decent in the hot.
I'll find out this afternoon how my Fieldsheer Adventure textile pants are. I assume a little toasty, because they were a little warm yesterday.
I've the Alpinestars Street Cargo Pants. It was fine yesterday on the pike, will see how it is today for the ride home.
what I like about these pants is that there are 2 huge pockets. good for extra stuff like sunglasses, visor cloth, camera, etc.

I think i'm hiting the highway on my way home tonight. I need the breeze to dry out my soupy drawers
The best summer pant I've ever had were the Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 mesh. Probably not the best protection, but better than nothing. The air literally went right through them, and kept swamp ass to a minimum.
I rode into work today... had my JR Phoenix mesh pants on over my khakis (not 2.0 -- I bought it on NewEnough in their Bargain Basement for $50 or something). Like schleepy said, probably not the best protection, but better than nothing. Definately better than the khakis I'm rockin' though.
I've actually worn them over jeans in upper 80's and it wasn't too bad either.
Got a Pair of First Gear overpants that I wear to work everyday over the khakis. Not probably as good as leather but I can wear them in any temp as long as I am moving.
I piss excellence!
I have the First Gear HT mesh over pants and bought the auxiliary CoreComp armor. I doubled the armor meaning I kept the stock memory foam plus added the CoreComp armor ... tight fit but it fits.
Crashed this spring and the armor was more than adequate ... protected my knees like nobodies business. I also had the HipProtec armor in the hip pockest ... again an option. Again I highly recommend it.
Low speed lowside but the gear worked perfectly. Damage limited to mesh fabric and I repaired it by patching it. if it would of been totally ripped, I would of junked it. The damage was friction melt mostly.
Based on what I saw here, I would NEVER wear mesh and bare skin underneath ... my street clothes took care of the melting mesh.
Would I buy again ... hell yeah because it is the most versatile gear I have.
Removeable liner is waterproof. So it is a rain pant ... a VERY HOT WEATHER pant ... and a cold weather pant because the liner is also windproof and I have worn it to 20F temperatures with street clothes and long johns underneath.
Out of all the gear I have, it is the one that I wear the most when I don't wear leathers.
It is also very easy to get in and out of because of the zippered legs.
Ive got the JR phoenix 2.0's and theyre great on a hot day, I dont think they can be beat for the price, but ive never been down in em so I cant comment on survivability.
Mesh is generally acknowledged to be use once and dispose of ...
I did the same thing you are doing ... bought textiles for commuting and now have some quality leather for serious screwing around.
I still use the textiles for commuting to work when the weather is what it is.
Icon jeans suck! The shred in an accident. Then your ass shreds.
I had a medic friend of mine tell me to buy "Sliders" jeans. He tried
cutting a pair off a dude that broke his leg in a bike accident and couldn't get the medical scissors through them, they had to use tin snips. And they got better reviews than the "Draggin" or any Icon jeans.
I wear full perf Vanson leathers ALWAYS, so no problems here.
Some people wrok in A/C, so that doesn't help your acclimation any.
Good luck, be safe.
I have the joe rocket alter ego's and love em as a over pant. Very reasonable as far as heat if you take out the vent part and wear jeans underneath. Feels very safe and its not hot at all (for me anyway).

I've got the Joe Rocket Ballistics (they make them in men's too) and love them, but on a day like yesterday they get pretty hot. Wore them on a ride last year and ended up soaked from the waist down from sweat. If you're looking specifically for summer-weight, check out the joe rocket mesh ones. Same armour, less heat.

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
thanks for the help guys...
i am leaning towards the alter ego now. a better all season pant, and from what it sounds like a great summer pant witht the vents. sounds like they will be worth the investment...$180.00![]()
Well, I rode yesterday with my textiles pants (Fieldsheer Adventure pants) and it wasn't too bad. They breathe really well.
And they're 1000 denier in the typical sliding places. (front side from knees down and the butt.
Leather perfs pants tank bag & spray bottle mesh jacket. Biker AC.
Unless I go gearless & yes I ride gearless.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
I was thinking about a spray bottle after yesterday. I soaked the t-shirt before heading to work, but even that got warm after 10 minutes. A few drips of water down the back might give the instant relief I'm looking for...
