I adventure ride, too.
I've been known to, with mixed results. I get a better response to cops in cars, who I also wave to. Then again, maybe they are telling me to slow down![]()

One time on a big NESR group ride, we had a guy in a red durango who wanted to say hi so badly, he jumped outta his car & ran into the middle of the road to say hi to us... he was really friendly.![]()

i wave as well or at least give them a nod. Most of the time they are in cars or in the middle of the road directing traffic. I usually get positive results. A lot better than when i used to do it in my car. haha When i moved to NH for a short time and still has MA plates that said SUBARU I got pulled over 5 times in the first two weeks for my "exhaust"
Near a larger city I get a 50:50 wave-no wave ratio.
Out in less populated areas it is closer to 95:5.

The fat cop in my town waved back to my brother and me on a ride around town once... I thought he was going to dump his bike! Then I thought I was going to dump my bike from laughing so hard![]()
Friday one waved back at me.
I usually wave "thanks" at construction zones, etc..
My town (Hopkinton) has exactly one motorcycle (a white Hardley Ableson full dresser) that was donated to the town's PD by a very wealthy, elderly couple in town. Very nice tax shelter folks.
So, the two times I have seen a cop around town on this bike while I was on mine, I have waved. Neither time was it reciprocated. Although, when I wave to the couple of Hopkinton cops while they are driving by in their cruisers and I'm in my yard, or in my truck, they always reciprocate. Sometimes, they are even first to wave.
Go figure.

I wave depending on the situation. Mostly a nod is nearly 100% given back. Especially with the tinted visor, they seem to nod back more when they can't see your eyes. Why? I dunno....

I usually give them the finger, and do a wheelie. If they pull me over, I'm all like "Fuck you, pig."
Word, yo.
I've never waved to one, and one has never waved to me. I think I rode by him too fast to see me![]()
There is a cop in my town that is absolutely gorgeous. Blonde, decent body (from uniform looks) and she is just smokin. I always wave at her. Maybe I should wheelie by instead.....then she could impound my bike. And then I could insisit I'm hiding a weapon somewhere on my body![]()

Seriously I wave and usually get waved back to but then again ALOT of the cops know me.
And I wave while in my Xterra, but it's a firefighter thing, we all wave to all emergency services.

I've waved to one cop and he waved back, so I can say that in all of my experiences all cops waved back to me!

I do not find Leo's intimidating, but females I do, I think i just feel guy are more understanding to other guys.. Where if you get the wrong women cop that hates men... Well you know the rest..
I waved to a motorcycle cop in Arlington one time, he was pulled over on the side of the road walking back to his bike after just giving someone a ticket.
I saw him looking at us (like 3 bikes) so I gave him a real low key wave, nothing crazy just like 'hello'
Fucker pulled me over 4 seconds later. I had a 'hyper white / slightly blue' running light above my headlight and he said "NO BLUE LIGHTS THATS ILLEGAL"
Lucky me got a 'warning'
