I have a 2002 SV 650 track bike. Starts out fine but refuses to run when I give the gas. It just dies right out then it has a hard time starting up when warmed up.
I'm looking for mechanic up on the North Shore that's familiar with carbs. Don't want to bring it to a dealership because the thing is completely stripped of all unnecessary wiring and I know the dealership will have the hard time dealing with that.
I need someone fairly quick as I have a track day a week from today so any help would be appreciated.
I'm located in Ipswich so anyone within an hour's drive of that would be great. Thanks for any input .
I'm not skilled enough with carbs to try and take them out and do it myself I leave that to the pros

Make sure your vacumme pump/valve thingy is opperating properly. Square box on right side of frame under tank.
Use a vacuume pump and fingers to test it and make sure the vacumme line is free from cracks and holes.
Paging DDK, Paging DDK, pictures in your possession are appropriate to this thread, Paging DDK, post pics now please.
So I decided to pull the plugs just to see what they look like. The rear cylinder was cool... Hmmm. So I check for spark. None at rear. Going to trace the electrical and see what is wrong. The wiring is stripped down with a shit load of connections made by the previous owner. Should be fun. So much electrical tape!!
I'll post up if I find something.
Some one suggested seacoast cycles in newbury. I was just there today. That mounted my new rear tire for $27 including disposal of old tire. And they did it in 20 minutes!! I just walked in and they took care if me.

If you want the best, PM TLRMan. He's in Beverly and without question an expert. He'll get your sorted.
Turned out a wire connection to the coil was broken. New connection and it started right up and idled purfect. No more backfiring.
I took it fir a spin and under load it just hesitates and dies. Starts up and idles but any load the engine lags.
Oh well back to the drawing board.

Update!
took the bike up to my friend Chris in Haverhill He
ripped the carbs apart and it was full of gunk! Cleaned everything up put it back together not once, not twice, but three times! Now the bike runs good. Not perfect, but runs very good. A little more tweaking and I should be there.
I want to thank everyone for their input.
