Hey Joe.
I'm doing a saddlesore 1000 from Boston to Melbourne, FL near the end of October (some weekend after the october trackday). I was gonna do the ride on either my EX250 or one of honclfibr's bikes, but I think a ZX-7 would be a way more comfortable rideI'm completely serious, so lemme know what you think. you're welcome to come on the ride if you'd rather do that, too.

This is actually somewhat interesting... Any more info.?
Basically, you ride 1000 miles in 24 hours, collect gas receipts and signatures for proof, and they give you a certificate saying how much you rock.
Boston->Melbourne is about 1300 miles so I'll stop a little short of it and take a rest. I'm planning on doing the round trip in three days, on a weekend or something.
NOW GIMME YOUR BIKE![]()

If you do that ride, do you just ride down the interstate, or do you have a more interesting route? It would seem difficult to do it any way other than the interstate, unless you are REALLY MOVING....![]()
Joe, you are a lilly pussy. We did the ride to Montreal in 14 hours straight, with a little of highway and more of back roads. No big deal.
uhh....arghhh....wait. Did I say we were exhausted arrived at destination?![]()

Hehehe... 14 hours from Springfield to Montreal? That's more than 2x how long it normally takes me to get from Boston to certain clubs in Montreal that shall remain namelessOriginally posted by MissTwisties

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
I did a SS1000 this May and was surprised at how easy it was to do.
Awhile back a guy out in MO (IIRC) did one on a ZX7R, too.

"fuckit!"
Sounds like a SLOW way to go............
Considering I was telling Highsider I can go from Boston to Jax Fla., (in a cage) in 17 1/2 hours and be sippin' cocktails at the Triangle at 9 : PM. 4:30 AM start. That's about 950 miles I think.
Should be able to tuck a 6 hour nap in there.....................if needed.
