What temp do you start riding at ?

Once it hits 45 degrees in the winter I start riding. But coming from the summer months, once it gets below 50 I won't ride.

I check weather.com everyday...... temps are starting to rise, by the end of Feb the avg's are 40'

With the exception of this year, I typically don't stop riding. Paperwork issues have prevented me from putting my new bike on the road but that's since been taken care of.

Below 50 and you wont ride?!?!?! Holy crap dude.

I'm going to ride once the sand and salt is off the roads. I'm hoping Mid March for my bday at the very latest. I'm not sure on the temp its more on the road surface. I rode my bike to RI from VT this season and it was i believe mid to low 30's and then night fell. The ride was great! I'll ride until i have to stop. Temperature just means another layer, and when i get the money a heated set of gear!

Just had this same conversation at work with someone. I'll plus one Pittenger. A storm or two to wash the sand and salt off the road and it's fine if you layer up. It's a pretty time of year to ride. But people aren't looking for bikes so you need to be extra careful.

Thats the other matter. Just yesterday I saw a dude on a harley at dusk, I like to think Im more conscious of bikes than the average person, and he took me by surprise going by.

coldest I've ever been riding is -12°F, I wanted to go for a ride once when it was 25 below but my bike wouldn't start to it warmed up to about 10 below

now I keep my bike in my basement during the winter so I shouldn't have the starting issue anymore

Clear roads + heated grips & vest + insulated gloves & clothing =

I've ridden in sub freezing temps and it wasn't too bad, but I don't make a habit of it.

I'd say 50 or so. If it's cold I don't enjoy myself cause I hate the cold. I ride because I enjoy it, if I'm not enjoying it I don't do it.

Temps don't matter, road conditions play more of a role if I go or not. If it's 30d out with icy roads I'm not gonna go out if it's 10 out with clear roads I'll head out

I actually love riding in the winter with snow on the ground, provided the roads are clear. The residential street I live on tends to be the biggest factor here, as it stays snowy long after most other roads are clear.

Last winter I rode nearly every weekend from the end of January on, and also managed to commute to work on the bike pretty frequently in February, and every day starting in early March. But that was pretty uncommon -- we got lucky and had a relatively mild winter with very little snow.

Re: What temp do you start riding at ?

I went for a ride Sunday to get some shots of my old high school for some bookface friends. It's about as cold of weather as I've been in (in the teens) but definitely the worst road conditions for me. There were spots of ice and snow in some shady back road areas. But it's always nice to pilot a bike with maple syrup shock/fork oil and rocks for tires.

Snow paws+under armor+fat kid=no need for heated gear.

The parking lot was a little dicey. Fun to skate a 500# fat ass bike around

Had to keep it running so I didn't have to jump it with a car again

I don't ride street anymore because I'm a racer. Riding street is too dangerous, why not take it to the track where it's safe from dumb drivers

Bingo...there's no need to. Don't understand why people ride in the rain..to me that's just stupid...you mean to tell me you can't wait another day to ride your motorcycle? You have to be on it 24-7 even in the rain? Riding in the rain sucks and it defies the purpose of riding motorcycles (enjoying the open air in your face, etc etc
