Hi there. I just bought a pretty beat up 1987 Yamaha SRX250.
As I mentioned in another post, I figure it'll be a fun project bike to work on with son (13), will be a decent bike for him to learn on in a few years, and, meanwhile, will be a fun alternative to my R1 for riding around town.
Anyway, considering the amount of work that needs to be done on it, I was thinking of maybe rebuilding it as more of a cafe racer or a streetfighter, but more sleek and stylish rather than rough.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or can recommend any good resources for me?
If you've got the time/money, make it a minty fresh cafe racer!
How old do you have to be to get a motorcycle permit in MA? Ask your son what he wants it to turn out like and let it be his first bike.

It was 16, but I think it may be 17.
We've actually both been looking at lots of pictures of different bikes online and he actually is liking the looks of something along the same lines too. He likes the streetfighters, but he likes fairings too, so we're both on the same page I think.
You got 3 years to make it a BA streetfighter! That seems like a great plan to get close to your son and show him respect for bikes and wrenching.
