And every other crazy fugger who can ride a HD fast. I rode one (1200 sporty) for the first time today. It was damn near scarry. The suspention was tough, to say the least. Hell it damn near threw me when I had it leaned and hit a bump! The brakes? Well lets just say you need an appointment to use them.
My back hurt, my eyes were watering, my fillings are loose, and my pants were damn near soiled. But hey, I did learn why HD guys always have a scowl. Their all pissed and uncomfortable.
So my hats off to you Wookie. When you rode your 883 with the sport bikes you were with everyone the whole time. You are definatly nuts![]()

who doesn't love props. Thanks.
However, they are not that bad. Once you get used to where to shift (very early; 5.7k is the cut off) you can make them go pretty good.
I agree with the suspension part...that was alway my big issue with keeping up with sports bikes. In bumpy corners the back would jump around and the pipes would touch down.
The whole vibration issue is something that you get used to easily.
The brakes...well they are not that bad. The bike is so heavy in the back end that you need to use at least a bit of rear brake. It is funny, on my other bikes I never use the rear brake, but I usually use it on the sporty. Somehow my brain knows when I'm on the sporty to use the back brake.
BTW - 45 hp and 550 lbs - it really is all you need for the street.
