When you're tying down 2 bikes in the back of a pickup (what kind of tie down question were you expecting you sick bastards?) how do you deal with the rotors? When I put my pit bike and race bike in the back of mine, the tie down for the pit bike basically lays on the rotor of the race bike. I dont know if this is enough pressure to over time warp it, or do any damage or anything. Its an EBC floating rotor, so that makes me a little nervous that its not fixed there and is supposed to move a bit.
I think you need to check your method of tie down. Maybe buy some wheel chocks for your pickup bed to keep the bikes upright.
In the front of the bed, locate the middle of the floor, drill a hole through the bed and install a 3/8" eye-bolt. Use fender washers to prevent it from pulling through. This gives you 3 tie down points for the two bikes, this way the tie-downs don't have to cross through the bikes.
Where are you attaching to the bike? Maybe Canyon Dancers would help? (Mixed feelings about this...depending on your clip-ons)

Well I use canyon dancers (I like them) but for a pit bike they're not that feasable, but I remember when we had regular bikes in there, the angles were just enough to hit the rotors regardless. So its not just cause its a pit bike.
Guess I gotta start looking for a trailer.
ya, if you have fullsize bikes you'd be set...but since its a pitbike, lean it one way toward the big bike or other way and you will be fine.
Ok...then how 'bout softties around the top of the triple clamps....I suspect you just need to find a different place on the bike to tie to and change the angle. But you're a pretty smart cookie so you have likely already considered that and I am probably missing the real issue...
or maybe just lay it down on the passenger seat and if you have a passenger then use the canyon dancers to secure him/her in the bed...

When I haul a street bike and a pit bike in my trailer, the street bike gets put on as normal in the center, and the front strapped down. I then pick the back up and swing it to one side, and strap that wheel to the side to keep it there. The pit bike then goes in backwards, rear wheel against the opposite side, front centered and strapped down. (The two bikes essentially '69' each other at an angle in the trailer. If you can't put the tail gate up in this arrangement, just make certain your strapping setup prevents the pitbike from moving forward. It doesn't weigh much, so you don't have to have it tensioned against the forks like a full size bike to keep it in place.
