I recently started working on Court Street in Boston and I can't find anywhere legal to park! I really prefer to abide by the laws whenever possible but "pretending I'm wee" while parked covered at a bike rack has failed thus far. I would really love any advice at this point, I don't want to give up riding to work in the morning, I truly enjoy it this time of year, but paying hundreds of dollars in tickets or $400+ a month for a garage spot just isn't feasible either.![]()

Could you take the T?
It's true I could T, but like I said I really enjoy my ride in every day and am hoping to find a parking solution!Could you take the T?
trolly!
can't beat city hall as they say.

1st off, welcome to the forum.
2nd... the only "trick" to parking in Boston is to bring a bike cover with you and find a spot on the sidewalk that isn't technically a sidewalk (private property).
I CAN'T GUARANTEE that you won't get a ticket, but your chances of not getting one will be a little better. Meter maids aren't SUPPOSED to "look up your skirt", but they will do it if it's an obvious violation, blocking a walkway or a safety concern. Really, your best bet is to just pony up & pay the piper.
Riding in Boston sucks the big one though why you like riding into work that much, anyway![]()

That is definitely the trick for parking downtown. You need to just wander around at lunchtime and try to find those areas. Typically easily recognized by the number of bikes wedged in like sardines.
I think things are a lot harder now with the increased popularity of scooters. On the rare occasion that I ride my motorcycle into work, I typically get pissed by the number of scooters parked in the motorcycle parking (my work has designated space in a garage)... not even real scooters ("real" = "big enough to need a registration"), but the little dinky shit. And if I ride my bicycle in instead, I find scooters loitering around the bike racks. You just can't win.

If you find a cool attendant this is very possible. With the company trucks many lots charge a commercial rate. But we got a better deal talking to the guy and we brought an s10 instead of a 1 ton van.
Might get yourself half off. Plus if it's for work it will be a tax deduction.

If you are on Court Street, isnt there still that spot that a lot use, a block or two north of there next to the TV station? I forget the exact location, anyone?

I used to park their every day for free (with the bicycles). The management told me that motorcycles throw off the sensors, and just park with the bicycles. Great spot to park too, right near the 93 ramp.
Or could actually PM the member who works for the "Bastard" parking company and see what he can get you.You could always find the nearest pay-parking lot, and try and sweet talk the manager or attendant into giving you a special monthly rate seeing as you're just a moto.... ?
Let me know exactly where you work, what you price limit is and I will see what I can do.
orthe parking attendent? just saying.

When my sister & brother inlaw sold their Brownstown in Back Bay, they sold their ONE car spot to yet another person for $30K! The buyers of the house didn't have cars and opted for the $30K discount for NOT taking the parking spot. Not quite the $300K mentioned there, but still...
Blows my mind that space enough for ONE CAR is actually deedable property!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Parking in the Back Bay used to be as easy as fitting in that space between a metered space and a fire hydrant, or on odd areas where a car couldn't fit so there was no meter.
Then parking enforcement begain ticketing bikes, so we had to cover them.
One of the guys began lifting the covers and ticketing anyway. "Oh, but they're not allowed to do that!" one might say, the judge downtown will not care when you contest the ticket. You might get a break on the first one or two of them, but that's it.
Now they've gone and installed those electronic pay stations, so you stick the little receipt to the vehicle and there are no longer "spaces". So bikes have to pay the meter fee, and pray that no-one takes the receipt sticker off your bike when you're away from it.
I've since stopped commuting to the city because of that hassleand I used to do it year round, only stayed home the truly snowy days.

Hey all - Since parking is such a pain, I built a site that people can list motorcycle parking spots on. It's pretty bare bones right now, but if you find a spot send it in and hopefully we can get a good list for people to make it easier to find parking spots.
