    Unhappy Rider Down

So I let my buddy take my 749 today. His bike was hit by some lady in a parking lot yesterday (should have been a sign ). Anyway I woke up at 1230 to my other buddy that was with him, to telling me that Eric had a accident. After finding out he was ok but was reciving a MRI for a cuncussion, he told me what had happened. Apparently they were traveling down 302 about 20 miles past P&H Truck Stop in Wells River. They came around a blind down hill right turn when the truck in front of them stoped for a one way bridge under construction. Now when I went to get the bike I came around the corner to the same stop light no signs saying that there was a stop light coming up. The first bike swereved around the haulting truck, the second clipped the truck but was of and stayed up, Eric swereved to miss the truck and the bike and a car was coming the other way. Short story, stabbed front brake low sided and smashed head. Bike lools F'ed. Visual check, R Mirrior, R Farrings, Right Brake Lever, rear brake lever, clutch cover, bent rotor, rear tail section, rear turn and brake light assembly, R clip on. Assuming the forks and frame are straight it shouldn't be totaled not so sure they wont be so raise your glasses and say a prayer for the downed 749

Sorry to hear about your buddy -- hope he's okay.

There's a reason I don't loan out any bike except my XR650L, and that one only to people I trust when I'll be riding with them.

    I mean honestly?

On another note...I hope that the rider is alright, and I'm sorry to hear about the 749, I'm sure you're buddy will also help to make you whole with the whole thing. If you don't want them to total the bike just reduce the amount you're asking for from them.

    Re: Rider Down

Sorry to hear of the mess with your bike and friends. 20 miles past P&H or 20 mins? 20 miles past P&H in VT would put you almost into Orange / Barre line. I've not been over that section for awhile so I'm not sure where this bridge is...BUT that is the wonderful state of VT for ya. No warnings...just do it. If this happened in VT which I am guessing it did. I'd seriously call VT AOT and scream bitch complain. Hell I'd be doing all I could to get a new bike out of them.

Sorry to say be they will total the bike. Have you seen what xx9 parts go for new? I've seen them totaled out with less damage. Also if you even have a scratch on the fame or swing arm they will consider them junk and write them on the list of parts that need to be replaced. If you go to the Ducati website you can download the part number book and check to see how much the dealer charges for them here

For a 2003, depending on mileage, if the damage goes over $5,500 with labor it will be totaled.

    Re: Rider Down

Thanks guys. ya this sucks and my buddy feels bad. He just called me today because he could start to remember things finally and appologized up and down. but its one of my best friends whom has been riding for a while and i cant say that i wouldn't have gone down also, after seeing the scene. Good news is his insurence will take care of it and a totaled bike won't be on my history. It was fun while it lasted. (does this mean i get to buy a 848?)

    Re: Rider Down

That sucks. I hope your buddy ends up okay and the insurance all works out.

I went over that road on Wednesday and there was a warning sign, but it was WELL before the light and I had a very quick stop as well.

Hopefully all the riders involved learned a lesson about following distances that will help them in the future rather than blaming the road, the state, or the driver in front of them.

Eh, sharing is caring. Bike, girl, whatever. Take a spin, and if you've got something similar for me to take a ride on all the better.

Anyway, why are you letting people sit on your wife? Wouldn't it work better if she sat on them?

I don't have a wife... and I'll let them sit on my bike not my girl! her booty is only for me

I use to have a scooter when i was 15, i let EVERYONE RIDE IT. i had to replace the plastics about 5 times and only once it was from me. After I sold it all my "GOOD FRIENDS" finally told me all the stupid shit they did on it! no 'F"in way would i let some one treat my motorbike like that, it took me 16 years to actually be able to buy one!

people don't give a shit when it's not theirs.

I was just elaborating more on the reason's, it gives me something to do here at work

I hope smoking hasn't shot my S.T.M.L. that bad

I have been trying to get back up to Louden to chill and watch some more racing. I was trying to go this weekend but the is not working this weekend so it's not looking good. Was suppose to go to the beach and out on a boat on the cape but i think we are canceling because of the rain. Maybe i can talk her into driving up to Louden?
