what sounds worse than a straight piped Harley?

Southbound on Rt 3 yesterday between Bedford NH and Nashua, I heard a painful ruckus behind me in the car. A minute later a straight piped V-Max went by in something less than top gear with a half-helmeted deaf rider. I contemplated vehicular homicide, but slowed down instead. I could still hear it screaming like a combo jackhammer/dentist drill a mile away.

NH's recent decibel testing procedure and noise limits is really more for public relations than actual enforcement.
The reality... a large percentage of LEOs ride Harleys that exceed the noise limits.
Why flex your muscle and enforce something you really don't want anyway?

Yeah, most "modern" engines sound pretty awful with straight pipes, but that Yamaha V4 is especially bad. The interplay of the exhaust valve openings just does not work at all. It just insults the senses.

Upon reading the thread title, I thought of 2 things that sound worse than a Harley....then I read it was about a VMax and lol'ed.

My answers were going to be a 1st gen VMAX with shit D&D pipes and

It all started back in 06 when I was in Monterey for the MotoGP race that weekend..... There were soooooo many Ducatis (and I was an RC51 owner---a 1 liter DUC eater!) all that could be heard everywhere you went was the clack clack dry clutch. I was pretty sure that if you die and goto Hell, thats the soundtrack playing there.....If my 848 was dry clutch, I wouldnt have bought it... But I know some love the sound of a broken clutch

haha i don't know many of the NH maxers but yea straight pipes sound awful. possibly even supertrapps with no disks or baffling.

possibly could not be seen thru the cloud of smog behind it too

we enforce the Db (decibel/douchebag) limits here when writing stickers. too loud? no sticker. i work at a HD dealer.

Yeah there's a first gen vmax here with straights. Sounds like moto hell.
