I'm looking to do some track days next season on my FZR600, and I want to install frame sliders just in case I were to go down. I know there are no specific frame sliders made for the FZR, but has anyone drilled the frame and installed them that way? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
You are going to have to make your own.....similar to this

Get engine covers instead. A lot of people that run them end up with twisted frames. Or so went the rumors. The steel fire on the fzr is pretty thin walled. Best bet is track fairings and some NRC/track sport covers.
Edit. God no don't drill the frame! You will not be able to installed them directly to the frame. You Will crush it that way. You have to mount to the engine hangar bolts. Check out fzr online. There used to be z guy there spyder I think?, that did a lot of custom fab for the bikes. He had one he used to stunt on with a full cage he made.

I appreciate the input guys. I probably won't end up putting them on. I'm thinking about just finding a cheap track bike instead of making mine track ready but I'm not sure yet. I don't wanna crack this one up but finding a track bike that's already got some scuffs would be a good option I think.
Don't stress about it bud. If you worry about every little thing to make the bike better for the track you will never be satisfied. I think you could have a fine time at your first few trackdays just the way it is. Now that I've said all that, I do like the idea of a track bike or a track oriented bike. I know your fzr has 18" wheels and that may hinder you in the future with tire choices. Something with setup suspension and nice tires goes a long way for confidence. There was a gs500 setup selling for $800 all summer so deals are out there. Personally, I prefer a setup track bike that's street rideable. Riding your bike on the street and track is a great way to feel super comfortable handeling the motorcycle in any situation.
Yeah the 18" rear is killing me lol. I need new tires for next season and the only option I have are Shinko podiuns in a 150/60R18 or I can get Avon AM26 road riders in a 150/70R18 but I'm reluctant to throw the Speedo off. I know the Shinkos kind of suck but I'm between a rock and a hard place.
you can also get a bridgestone bt014 in a 150/60zr18...or the shinko podium in a stock 140/60-18
The Bridgestone would be nice it just seems like they're hard to find. I would feel much more comfortable on the track on the 'stones than the Shinkos. The only other thing is I would like some shorty adjustable brake and clutch levers for my bike but I don't even think thsoe exist. I usually shift with just two fingers on the clutch and the rest of my knuckles are tired of getting smacked by the clutch lever lol.
Shameless plug. Buy my bike lol. Deffinately go with the bridge stones.

I have bridgestones...sticky enough, but sort of soft and wear quicker than I'd like
