My trip around the entire eastern US on the Wee

A few observations as I am back into the routine of sitting in a chair all day and not touring the US on a motorcycle:


It's not expensive. I would spend about $20 a day on gas riding all day, usually around 8 hours. I'd spend anywhere from $15 a day (cheapest) to $120 (nicest once) on food. Most was around $30 a day, if that. Hotels were around a hundred bucks, stayed in them 4 nights, rest of the time was from welcoming friends. One was $60. I did the whole week for well under a grand, and that includes spending a bunch of cash on drinks and entertainment. Probably around $600. I spent more than I needed to, especially in Savannah. If I was doing campgrounds and cooking my own food, I coulda done the whole week for a few hundred bucks easily. So for all you brokedicks, it can be done on the cheap.

The roads down south are in amazing condition. Even little backroads, sideroads, etc. They don't have to deal with the potholes like up here.

I tend to spend closer to $50/day for fuel on the road 14+ hours, rarely less, outside of cities, I have found motels for $40-$70/nite + food, I usually spend $150±/day

On the highway for the last two days, doing 80mph most of the time, I got much less mileage than I did on backroads doing 55-60.

I average 750-800 miles a day when I am on a road trip, I have spent as much as $100 a day for fuel, but I rode over 1600 miles, but that day I spent $0 on lodging and maybe $15 on food

my SV650 got worse mileage on highway as well (38-40 vs 45-50 on back roads)my Vee is pretty consistent, 42-43 mpg highway or back road
