No surprise there. I'd be curious to know how the Tiger 800 XC and F800GS would have done in the same test.

The Tiger Explorer is an outstanding road bike, and would be my choice for long-haul touring. And I have no doubt it would do well on long northern gravel roads such as the Trans-Lab, Dempster Highway, and Dalton Highway. But for flogging through muddy woods trails, of course it wouldn't be my choice. Neither would my XC, for that matter. That kind of riding is what true dual-sports are made for.

This month MCN tested the Explorer. Here's the performance data.

Wet weight: 589.0 lbs
Top speed: 132.2 mph
0-60mph: 3.47 seconds
0-100mph: 8.01 seconds
1/4 mile time: 11.32 seconds
1/4 mi trap speed: 118.07
Braking 60mph-0: 127.6 feet, 121.3 without ABS
HP/weight ratio: 1:5.17

Clearly the KTM is the winner. However my intention/purpose for the Explorer was to do "adventure sport touring". Not the Paris to Dakar ride. I don't know what the KTM has for luxury ammenities ie: Ride by wire cruise control, if it has ia 950 watt generator... I would agree the KTM can do all those off road adventures where you'll have to navigate streams and small jumps. If that was my intent KTM FTW and I'm sure any BMW rider would say the same. But for "old man" riding and staying over night in hotels/motels I'm the guy and the Explorer is the bike. From the start of my biking experience it was dirt roads. I've loved them. Cut my teeth sorta speak on off roading. Adventure touring is one step above Sport Touring.. If you're on a sport tourer and come across a dirt road youll freak out thinking the small stone kick up is gong to scratch your fairing. Bring it on with my aluminum belly pan!

I read that same review on MCN, they did have some complaints. The non adjustable suspension was their biggest complaint, next was the super sensitive throttle which has built in freeplay that they didn't like. They also complained about how many steps it took to change the traction control settings and how many steps it took to disable the ABS. They also seemed a little underwhelmed with the brakes.

For Sale: 2013 Triumph Tiger EXPLORER with ~2900 miles and only 2 months old, Color is Graphite and is in near showroom condition with no scratches/dings/stains on either the bike or the cases. Never down always stored indoors under a flannel cover with all services/recalls up to date. Smooth 1200cc Triumph triple with 135 horsepower and unbelievable torque. Very comfortable with a 250 mile range. Warranty is good to July 2014. Electronic Cruise Control, Center Stand, Traction Control (switchable to 2 levels and off), ABS (switchable off), Multiple function Bike Computer and extremely comfortable for the long haul or just having a fun day on paved &/or dirt roads locally.

Reason for selling this great bike: Getting out of riding for a year or two.

OEM Triumph Side Cases with locks keyed to ignition- nice and big to hold everything
OEM Triumph Crash Bars- just in case
OEM Triumph Hand Guards- great in the cold or rain to keep your hands warm and protected
OEM Triumph Zip-on Seat Bag- great option when side cases are overkill
Madstad Windshield System + stock shield- Absolutely the best aftermarket shields made
Hyper Lights (Rear Brake Lights)- flashes rapidly 5 secs then goes solid when brakes applied so no one can miss you
Highway Pegs mounted on crash bars - very comfy and retractable out of sight when not in use
LED Driving Lights mounted low on forks by brake calipers- increase visibility to others during day and lights up the night
Bags Connection Tank Bag (with quick release with horseshoe mounting tank filler ring)
Kaoko Throttle Control- works great when in traffic where the cruise control just isn't practical
3M ScotchLyte reflective panels on back of cases
(not interested in parting out farkles now unless buyer absolutely doesn't want something)

Over $19,000 invested ($19,485 to be exact)...and asking only $15,890 in New Hampshire.

A ton of electrical issues, and Triumph decided to give him a replacement.
