talk about a phone call I never want my girlfriend to get- "police are still trying to contact next of kin."
The motorcyclist killed was the owner of DC Audio in Portsmouth.

sounds like moron pulled out of the drive or side road in a little bit of a hurry. only a guess, of course, but for the PD to actually contemplate "other charges" that is a good bet.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
I'm trying to picture "backing out of a parking space' onto Corporate Drive
I wasn't aware there was any on street parking at Pease ... or was thins a parking lot accident?
it's hard to believe anything Fosters prints, my experience, they only get half the story straight
Knowing the people at Elf's, I am surprised that they had someone driving under suspension

Considering 99% of these articles say "Police say speed was definetely a factor", Id be willing to place almost anything that the truck driver is at fault.

I bet it's the rider's fault. The area down there is wide open with a 35mph speed limit. Kinda hard to miss a Ford F-550 backing out in front of you (IF your eyes are forward).
I too am surprised by Elf's due to the size and reputation (very good) of the company.
Very unfortunate. Thoughts and prayers with the family.

RIP, rider.![]()
I gotta believe this was (principally) rider error also... I have a hard time imagining a landscaping truck just leaping out in front of someone... backwards.
No mention of helmet use.![]()
Five in three weeks now? Jeeze...![]()
There is a small area right where Corporate/International drive intersect that has like 5 or 10 parking spaces right on the street that you need to back up into the street to get out of. Although, I don't know the exact place this happened, my girlfriend who works on International said you had to go all the way around to get to I95 which is why I am led to believe it was that general area.

updated article
the rider was wearing a helmet and speed was not a factor
I gotta say there was some rider error thought, distracted, it's wide open there, I don't know how you can't see a dump truck backing into thestreet

here's what a buddy of mine just emailed me about this whole thing. he works @ IBM (lucent) on pease and rides right by where this happens "we went out this way and traffic was being diverted.. yellow tape and all closing of the street... it didn't look good.. found out later yesterday that the guy died from his injuries... helmet too. half of me wants to say "there you go, helmet or not, you could die", but the other half of me wants to blame the rider for not paying attention. he should have seen the landscaping truck backing out and made the necessary changes (i.e. go wide, be on the brakes, etc.. - then again.. who's to say he wasn't... we don't know any of this...)
bottomline.. be defensive.. be careful out there..."

Yesterday, I met his grandmother. She came in to my store and she saw my helmet and said that she just lost her grandson in a motorcycle accident in Lee, NH.
I immediately got shivers up and down my spine. It's so sad.
whether the rider was paying attention or not you shouldnt be backing out onto a major road like that. my dad works for Pease and hes almost been hit at that 4 way stop by Paddys and he was on a lawn mower. we also have a friend that was hit at that intersection.Seacoastonline.com: Motorcyclist dies in crash with truck

let me rephrase. when driving a 1 ton dump truck you shouldnt be backing out onto a major road without either doing it slowly or having someone back you out since you have almost no peripheral vision in one of those.
