I went and test rode a used 00 VFR at lunch today.
Didn't do anything special for me. The new ones are better IMO. I think I am going to end up picking up something new (as in not a VFR, maybe not a brand new bike). I guess I can't stay away. It was a lot of fun to go for a little ride.
I stuck one of my bicycles on Ebay. Pointless to have 3 anyway as I can only ride one at once.

Seems this would put you at the top of the "Who's next thread"
It is way to hard to stay away from a bike if you had one previously. Good luck in your search.

If you've never tried a dual sport before, give one a ride. I rode a 650 V-Strom Saturday morning and really liked it. I think it would be great to tour on and a it's a riot on tight back roads. Very comfy too.
All I've rode is a tiger... it was fun but I'm not sure it handled well enough to keep me happy.
I should take a look at the 650 V-strom though. If it was just a little bit more comfy I might really like it.
I think I am headed in a more squidly direction though.

Only "dual sport" bike I have had the chance to ride is my friends R1150GS... Thats a nice bike, and it will certainly perform for you, but the pricetag is a bit daunting... And of course you have to dig the BMW twin styling which isn't for all folks...
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
