Something to be wary of, and it's probably a bigger problem than we suspect, but a couple guys just got busted in LA for selling counterfeit Monster Energy MotoX helmets. Kind of scary when you think about it, the helmet you just paid hundreds of dollars for just might be a phony that doesn't pass DOT testing.

Law enforcement officials seized $250,000 worth of counterfeit “Monster Energy” motocross helmets and arrested two people at a business near Avenue Stanford Thursday morning.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Community Partnerships Bureau, Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement Team, served a search warrant at 7 a.m. in the 28100 block of Stanford Avenue that was allegedly selling counterfeit “Monster Energy” motocross helmets through Amazon.
Approximately 1,000 counterfeit “Monster Energy” motorcycle helmets with an estimated retail value of approximately $250,000 were seized.
Not only were the helmets counterfeit “Monster Energy” products, they also contained Department of Transportation stickers indicating they met the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards minimum standards. Testing conducted by an independent laboratory determined the counterfeit helmets did not meet all of the mandated FMVSS safety standards.
