Although Code's books were written essentially for racers, the techniques he illustrates is good for any rider. Read his books cover to cover during the week before you're first track day and it will give you something to focus on other than following the dude in front of you.

I found Total Control to be a great book, especially if you don't get many track days. He's got a few course layout's(using cones/sweatshirts/rocks/whatever) in the book that I tried out a local high school parking lot. They definitely helped.

Although just my opinion....I would suggest you take just one book (say, Total Control) and spend the next few months working on those techniques instead of reading all the books and not knowing which one is better... When I got my bike I ordered all the books I could find and found that there are similarities and differences from one author to another. My ADD kicked in and I didn't focus on any of them. Park's book (TC) wasn't out yet, but when I did buy it I used it exclusively and it helped a lot. No one book is "the best", but they're all pretty good.

In the end, it doesn't matter which book/techniques you choose, just go with one and get really good at it...then try something else. That style of training is much easier for me anyway...
Damn, I'm rambling on...gotta get back to work.

i like that new Icon pants.

Kham, don't you have a F4i in the garage with no title? You do not have to have a registered bike for trackdays! At least you will not worry about the bike since you can't register it!
