Looking for a person or place that can do a nice (but cheap) paint job for some sharkskinz
I'm not looking for anything fancy in terms of detailing or artwork, but I want it too look nice.

I've got a guy in Harvard painting mine now, should be done this week. You're welcome to have a look when it's done. He's about five minutes off rte 2, and his prices are reasonable as he's just started in business for himself and is looking get his name out there.
Here is a nice overview and how to for doing your own Rattle canning that I found last night when I was thinking about this same thing:

Yeah, I rattle can everything.Believe it or not, one of the body parts on my GSX-R that you saw at MotoMkt last summer was rattle-canned (bet you didn't notice) If you take your time you can get some really great results. One of the biggest things to look out for is dust... kick it up and let it land in your clear and you'll notce it (and be pissed).

Good read for sure. I know I can do it, and I think I'd do a decent job, I just don't feel like doing all the leg work, materials, setting up an area on my driveway etc, plus the big one is time. I think for it to look good, do the decals properly and the clear etc you need space and time which don't..... maybe another time though.

He's been doing both for years, he worked at a restoration shop and did custom stuff on the side. I've seen his photo album, and he did a kick ass job on a corvette hard top for me and charged a very reasonably price. My bodywork should be done the end of this week, I'll get pics up asap. I think my lightly crashed sharkskinz will get up around $750 with a custom multi-color paint job (rainbow flag).
What is the average cost of a simple paint job usually?
I'm currently doing the R6 myself. The last owner tossed it at VIR for some minor damage on the tail and some scuffs on everything else.
Lots of sanding, prep work, and overall pain in the ass. But it's been a good winter project to help numb the pain of cold weather and no riding.
We'll see how it turns out lol

I picked colors today, should be a week or so before pics. I dragged my feet getting the tank to the body man, hence the delay. It's gonna look like this.

I think it's going to be between 6 or $750. There was some damage that was repaired, maybe $200 worth. That's for the paint, no air brushing. I think he just charges $30 per hour plus materials, and can give you a ballpark before he starts.
My father bought a '64 Vette a few years ago that came with a hard top that was pretty beat up. Dave (the body man) stripped off the vinyl cover, polished the stainless, dyed the headliner, replaced the hardware, replaced the weatherstrip, sanded and polished the (plastic) rear glass, painted the hard top, and fit it to the car. The total price for labor was around $1000. The hard top is show quality, better than the rest of the car. I'll take some pics today when I go to work.
Yum, '64! Original? If so, do you know which version of the 327 he has? I believe they had a 375HP fuelie available that year...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
We have the original (I think) 250 horse block and heads in the basement. The car currently has a dogshit 350 in it now, prolly pushing 210 HP. I've been on his ass to rebuild the 327, but it's probably not worth the trouble. It's not very original, more of a driver.

Here's a couple shots of the 'vette, and a couple of my Camaro. I'm sure I could get that 327 up to 400 HP, it's just that everything downstream would break the first time dad side stepped the clutch at 5500 rpm. And the original four wheel drum brakes already make it scary as is. I know a guy in Westford MA with an original '81 pace car with less than 20k on it, it may even be less than 10k, I'm not sure. My step-mothers brother also has one with no miles, like less than 2k, he's one of those Barret-Jackson types. I'll ask what they think they're worth next time I see them.
