Hello Vermonteers and Mainestayers,
Next weekend I will be heading up to Vermont, then cutting through New Hampshire to Portland Maine.
First stop over area might be the White River Junction or Hanover VT.
The second stop over may be Portland, Maine.
Can someone give advice or recommendations fordrink, food and motels to consider in those areas?
Thanks in advance.

Dimillos is cool in Portland. See: http://www.dimillos.com/restaurant/index.html
DiMillo's is a tourist-trap. Very good food, decent atmosphere but high prices. There are many other restaurants on Commercial St that serve great food for a fraction of a price. Gritty's actually has incredible food for being an Irish Pub. Bull Feeny's is along the same lines as Gritty's and just across the street. The whole Old Port section is littered with bars/pubs and trying to grab beers at each one would render riding impossible.
If you're looking for hotels/motels and wanna save a few dollars, go out towards the Maine mall (5-10 miles outside of downtown) or go out Congress St to any one of the 3 hotels out there. You'll save big-time rather than pay exorbitant amounts of money per night at any of the 5-star hotels downtown. They're not worth it.
Maine Indoor Karting is a great suggestion as well. I've spent way too much money at that place.
