Hey guys,
I was wondering if any one has had any issues getting their bike inspected if they have an aftermarket exhaust on.
I was thinking about getting my inspected, but i did not get the stock muffler with the bike and only have a supertrapp. I always want to make a muffler for it soon, as well.
i figured i'd ask the knowledge of the forum before finding out myself and having issues.
thanks guys,

no problem here, however I went to a local custom shop which unknown to me closed at 1, me and buddy showed up at 3... group of guys out front drinking beers and chilling and they did it anyway so I dont think you'll have a problem
The guy who inspected my bike told me that he was supposed to fail me for my exhaust. He was awesome. He said he has no way of knowing if it was aftermarket or not, so as long as the bike is safe and not ridiculously loud he would pass it. I think it really depends on where you take it.
yeah, i have never had an issue at the small local shop i go to with clear flushmounts and aftermarket exhaust. i've seen people get shot down at cycles 128 in beverly for having illegal signals

were did you folks get your stickers aound central Mass. I have been putting this off and need to get-er-done this week.
around here yea you will get shot down for after market exhaust. they are illegal in RI. hell if a cop is in a bad mood, better believe your getting a ticket for one [which is why mine is still stock]
how ever... there are places that will look past it.... its just about knowing where to go.
and p.s. my bike is still not inspected and it wont intill i get a citation for it.
i'de keep the names of shops to PM's

err ok.
I just had mine done, PM for shop name.
I worked at Cycles128 for tha last few years and I would send people to Witch City Cycles because C128 would not inspect if the turn signals were not factory. They wouldt fail you, just wouldnt inspect it. They dont have to. And it boils down to the inspector, its his actual drivers license if YOU get caught, not the business itself.
So this year, Im off to Witch City Cycles too!
My guy tells me the same thing every year: "You put that on after you left here." Never had an issue, and i'm running a Jardine gp-1, one of the loudest exhausts i've ever heard in person.
i know of a place in and around the franklin/bellingham/milford etc area. PM me if you'd like..
Sorry if this is covered somewhere else, but I've tried searching the forums and I'm just not finding what I'm looking for...
I've got an 09 ninja 250 and put an aftermarket Yoshi pipe on it cause the stock exhaust sounds like a lawnmower. Now it's loud but not as loud as a lot of bikes I've heard... my question is am I gonna get rejected for having the exhaust? I've seen a lot of posts saying 'depends on where you go'...
Does anyone know any places in the Lowell area? I was going to rt3 Kawasaki, but they're the kinda guys that would fail me just to be bastards. LOL
Thanks
So technically all aftermarket exhausts are illegal?
Try Billerica Motorsports. Tell them Doug Shepherd sent you. You'll catch a ration of shit for using my name (all in FUN ) but you'll get a sticker provided it's just an aftermarket exhaust and you have a chain guard, your fork seals aren't leaking, your lights, directionals, brake etc all work.
-I believe the max decibel for "road legal" is 98db? it will be stamped somewhere, "NOT FOR ROAD USE" if excess of 98db or whatever....
-no stamp, legal. if containing the above phrase, not legal. they sell products, not laws. its up to the consumer to obey local ordinances.
So not all aftermarket exhausts are illegal.
Pays to be educated, you may have a legal pipe and get pulled over or fail inspection.....
I've got mine the last couple years at a place over on 117 where it meets with 190 and they haven't had an issue with it. but he gave me a screw driver made me take off a license plate frame before he would put my sticker on even though it was my plate light.
So really it depends on where you go. most places are good.
ALSO, thanks for reminding me. i need to get mine this weekeend
