Police pinch 60 drivers in 3 hours

I drove through this yesterday morning and saw at least one bike got nabbed. It was on the southbound side between exit 8 and exit 1. Don't know if they'll be back again soon but thought it worth mentioning to those that like to slow down in highly watched areas. I didn't see any unmarked SUVs but the unmarked Chevy Malibus were out in force.

Police pinch 60 drivers in 3 hours on turnpike

Police pinched nearly 60 drivers on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in just under three hours Tuesday morning during a detail focused on aggressive driving, state police said.

Nashua and state police worked together for the operation, and state police issued a press release, but no one was available to comment or offer further details.

Police didn’t say how they were patrolling, but such efforts typically include unmarked vehicles as well as regular cruisers. Police also didn’t say which stretch of the highway they worked or during which hours.

Police were watching mainly for offenses typical of over-aggressive driving, such as tailgating, changing lanes abruptly or without signaling, speeding and failing to move over for emergency vehicles.

Police stopped nearly 60 drivers, they said, but they didn’t specify how many citations were issued. One driver was arrested, accused of driving after having been declared a habitual offender, police said.

60 is pretty epic. Thats a bad day fo sho. Those cops all have the strangest unmarked cars. On 93 I have seen explorers, F150, monte carlo, oldmobile, and a few others that I cannot remember. The explorer is no biggie but seeing an F150 kind of surprised me.

Look out for a Black Toyota Camery too!! saw him on the 495 paving detail the other night with someone pulled over.

I actually saw one of the newer volvo wagons on rt 1 with flashers in it, and the kid giving the ticket looked like a scruffy 21 year old wearing cargo pants and a t-shirt.

I saw 4 identical pearl-white Subaru Foresters parked in front of the Framingham barracks on the Pike yesterday. Scary.

ha funny you say that. i got pulled over 2 weeks ago by a minivan. It was my buddy and he knew who i was. He is ATF though. Pretty funny/scary though.

Not on Rte 3 southbound in Nashua. I typically drive around 70 MPH between exits 8 and 1 and am regularly passed. The average left lane speed in this area seems to hover between 75 and 80

Watch out for Mustangs in Maine! I have seen a few of them out on 95. Also the cops like to sit on the bridges right when you get into Maine, shoot radar and then pull you over farther up. Welcome to Maine right??

What he said. I commuted from Merrimack to Nashua for 10+ years and now Goffstown to Hudson for 4 years or so. Same roads, just a tad longer.

Yesterday I noted two marked staties south of the bedford tolls which is a little abnormal for 6:45-7:15am. One was on the northbound side and had two customers just south of exit 5. One was cruising on the southbound side in the fast lane. I caught him at exit two and promptly exited toward Hudson.

I didn't see any of the three unmarked Impalas that populate route 3 in Nashua or anyone running speed traps on the sides/median. All in all a relatively quiet 80-85mph commute with traffic from Manch to Nashua.

I like how they say they are targeting over-aggressive drivers, like a lower level of aggressiveness is tolerable. That said, I'm ok with them going after the tailgating, lane swerving idiots.

Honestly i don't see too much of it in the cage or on the bike. People cruise at a good clip but it's still pretty docile.

I got down 495 to the Cape a lot and I work in Natick near Rt 9 so I see a lot of differnt cop cars. I've seen the typical unmarked vics, exploders and even the chevy malibus and chargers, what gets me is that two weeks ago I was pulled over in my truck on 9 for failure to use a signal (figured out my tail light was out and it was a warrenty issue, I will be fighting that ticket since I knew I used my signal, though I was speeding a little, haha) and it wasn't a Ford 500 but a blacked out Fusion. So driving by it I didn't even notice the lights they were hidden so well.

Then the kicker was on 495 returning from the Cape on my bike I got nabbed by a statie driving an unmarked goldish chevy sedan (can't think of the name at the moment but it's between the cobalt and malibu I think...weird car) with lights in it, no tint, nothing. He let me go with a verbal warning (only paid attention to me because I was in full tuck when I passed him and he had a hard time reading my plate).

Regardless, the cops are using some strange unmarked cars these days. I was weirded out the first time I saw a F-150 unmarked.

many troopers also have lights in their personal rides, so it's possible you might not be seeing "official" MSP units. either way, the uniforms inside are still very much real.
