VIN sticker removed from prior owner- problem with registering bike in spring 09?

TITLE SHOULD SAY- "VIN STICKER REMOVED BY PRIOR OWNER, NOT FROM PRIOR OWNER

I recently bought a 2001 GSXR 750 off Craigslist from NH.

The bike is really clean and the owner was meticulous with his records and maintanence. I have been looking for the VIN tag that has the month/year of assembly and the VIN # but havent found it.

It was registered in NH and came with a legit title which is now in my name. I know it had a current NH registration and plates.

Will I have an issue with trying to register it in the spring without this sticker on the frame? I assume that Suzuki stamped the VIN on either the motor or the frame so surley this sticker isnt the only way to ID the bike as VIN- XYZ123 but some reassurance would be great.

All I do is bring in teh Bill of sale and the title to the RMV to get a registration and plates.... correct? Then the safety inspection doesnt include anything to do with VIN verification, does it?

I am currently downloading the service manual but thought I would post this question in the meantime.

Ok, manual downloaded and it states the VIN is stamped on the steering head pipe and the rear side of crankcase. It makes no reference at all to the sticker on the left side of the frame. I guess I am all set then........

Just kidding. The Vin should also be stamped in the frame on the right side of the steering head. Now if he ground that off you're screwed. The sticker is just to make it easier to see for the cops when they pull you over.

I have bought a few cars from NH. the biggest problem I had was waiting for the DMV to do a title search. I guess in NH you dont need a title after the car is 10 years old. I did have the previous registration card to prove i bought it from the owner though and wasn't stolen.

When I brought my bike home. I didnt get back home untill like 2am and my nosey ex-cop neighbor came by took the vin down after I went inside and called his buddies to make sure it wasn't stolen. Damn P I A old folks, always thinking us youngins are up to no good.

i guess it depends on how long youve been around bikes. i thought it was common knowledge the the VIN was on the steering neck of all motorcycles kinda like the VIN on a car is under the windshield on the dash....or motorcycles have 2 wheels
but if youre fairly new to the bike scene then i guess its a valid question
