It's my race bike & it's gonna get sanded & painted later, so it doesn't have to be perfect.

I already know empiregp can do it if I wanna send it out, just wondering if anyone here wants to help me out & make a few bucks in the process.

I got access to a few ways of doing it if no one steps up. The machine zaps studs to the tank, you then grip them and pull the dent, then snip the studs off. No holes in the tank...

Heh, be careful welding or brazing anywhere near a gas tank. You would be surprised how few fumes it takes for a big boom.

It shouldn't rust much if i find a dry place for it, right? Tricky part is finding a dry place outside w/ all the snow....

In my experience, it will rust like a bitch. Google it, there are procedures for this and stuff you can use to really clean out the gas tank and protect the inside. You'll need to do this anyway before it gets DA'd or hand sanded for painting.

No not you.

At least take out the fuel pump first. that will have gasoline in it (if it's injected). If no pump, take out the petcock for easier draining.

Mmmmmmm, I tend to avoid striking an arc on gas tanks. It's a little sketchy, but can be done. You can fill them with water, too. No air no boom (theoretically )

o man... u guys is a bunch of weenies... drain the tank, let it sit for a day... and when u are ready to weld it, hold a match over the top of the OPEN gas cap. Its like a little rocket for half a second... no KA BOOM at all... just a little rocket heh heh. we did stuff like that in science class way back in high school with milk jugs. put a few drops of gas in... shake it all around, light the match and watch it go KoooooOOOOOOOOSH!

Then no more gas to catch on fire... good to weld

That EXACT thing happened to a close friend. It wasn't really funny in hindsight. He got really fucked up.

Arent you supposed to fill the tank with some nonflamable gas to weld it? How bad is the dent and is it creased? if it isnt creased you can have the dent blown out with compressed air.
