So far, JC has been one of only two people who got photos of me riding. The other is a fellow member of my Triumph group, the Northeast Triumph Sport Riders. (I still love the one that Robert-Andre of Montreal got the best, it was with my own camera on Route 17 in VT.)Originally posted by Collision pro

How is everyone getting up there? I'm still thinking of doing this, but I'm a bit concerned about riding up at 6am on these cold fall mornings (no trailer, so it's ride it or leave it), especially on fresh tires. And riding back after a track day, I remember Jay mentioning it's pretty exhausting and an hour trip home at 6 is not recommended.
As it stands, I'm still on the fence, but my plan would be to ride the hour up for 7, do the track day, and either ride home or pull into the red roof inn tuesday evening depending on how I feel. Would this be a good plan or am I crazy?
My plan is to ride to work tomorrow while my son loads up all my sh*t into my van. When I get home from work, ride the bike right up onto the trailer, strap it down, strip off the tank bag, and hit the road for NH.
It's a 2 hour drive for us, so we expect to be at the Red Roof Inn at 8 or so. Register, then go to dinner. After dinner, off to the track to setup and unload my bike. (Fair warning, most peeps are not allowed into the track Monday night, I have some connections.) Back to the RRI for a good night's sleep.
Tuesday morning, breffis at the Eggshell Restaurant, then to the track for 7 am.
That's my plan, just how it worked out for the Sept. 24th rainout.I expect a COMPLETELY different after-lunch setting for this day though!

Ok, this morning's into work ride was very very cold, and that was at 7:45. Scraping frost of the seat pre-ride should have tipped me off, I think. Don't see that a 6am departure for an hour long ride is going to be a good idea. Must look into plan B.
yeah, I would't even think about riding my bike up to a track day. Not to mention the cold ride, but you have to prep your bike and that could be a huge pain in the ass if you wait to get it up there first. Also, you want to bring a can of gas(gas at track isn't cheap) plus maybe some snacks and WATER! a couple of chairs wouldn't hurt either. Also, how would you get it home if you crashed it?
Yeah, plan B is afix new lights to my father's trailer, mend the exhaust on the truck, and trailer the bike up tuesay morning. The more I think about it, the more I like plan B...
Yeah, Plan B is the only way to go. Have fun man! Make sure you post about the track day!![]()
Alas, I must report, plan B failed. The trailer just needed too much work for me to do in one evening and still get a good night's sleep. I was so close, yet so far. If I hadn't rewired the whole trailer, I might have made it. But I fell short, and it got real dark real fast.
So off to plan C, which unfortunately is: try again in June. Hopefully I'll have a bit more time to prepare. To everyone headed up tomorrow, good luck and have fun!
Couldn't have asked for a better dayLOTS of tracktime and very few people. I think there were only 3 crashes the whole day. Awesome day in my book

Now that was a whole lotta fun.
The morning started off chilly so we moseyed out onto to the track about 9am and did a bunch of follow the leader sessions which was a pretty smart idea.
There were two groups and I started out in the fast group but didn't feel comfortable and was really gun shy in turn 2 so I meandered down to the slower group and it turned out to be a great decision.
About 11am we got our first open session and it was awesome as there wasn't a lot of riders and tons of open track and as I would come up on slower riders I would just putt along the pits and then head out to more open track.
After lunch I would get first on the pit wall so I was first out and pretty much had the track to myself a couple of times I would slot in behind a rider and instructor to follow the race line and at slower speeds I was really able to concentrate on proper cornering technique and became really comfortable with my rf900.
We also did a track walk at lunch time which was the best thing I did all day as we walked the race line and all the advice about the right line around the track finally made a lot of sense.
So we would do 20mins on and 20mins off and towards the end of the day I was really riding smooth and I found myself relaxing a lot more which translated into keeping a lot more corner speed and getting a great drive out of the turns especially the bowl and turn three..
The last couple of sessions were great and it felt weird to feel like the only bike on the track, so all in all a great day and I finally was able to figure out what all the nesr racers were talking about as regards the track and the technicalities of riding around it..
I got to hang with my friend Ken Mitchell and even do some laps with him and mark and todd and beth (cowboy rider) came by and did corner worker for the day.
did 147miles on the rf900 and came home tired but happy so a great result for me..
I think I'm all done with track days at loudon and if I do go again it would be only one or so.
I love riding on the street and really don't have any interest in racing so I feel I've gotten what I can out of it for the time being.
Big kudos to Paul from TeamDeamon for running a very relaxed track day
