I lost a fight with a car... hurtin'

My bike and I got F'd up yesterday by a corrola. Its a good one.

Here it is.. Going down a double yellow busy road 45 mph, when the car in front of me, 3 car lengths ahead, slowed down and put his RIGHT signal on. Nothing on each side of the road except some dirt where you could just pull over if needed.

He slowed down to about 35, again has his right signal on. Now he's got both right tires on the dirt.

I’m now about 1 1/2 lengths back, close to the double yellow, because he was spiting dirt up from pulling over when ALL OF A SUDDEN I MEAN ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT FOR LIKE A 30 mph Illegal Left hand U-TURN.....shit..... BANG! im now flying over the hood.. and 25 feet later on my face.

Someone was looking after me cause i limped away. My right knee got slammed between the car my bike. the car mirror ripped a hole in my arm through the jacket! I prolly would of lost my arm if i didn’t have it on. but that’s it! Im good to go. rest of the gear saved my ass.

He said he saw me? but i asked why did you have your right signal on and pulling off into the dirt? "I was taking it wide so i could make it"... what???? Anyways.. the officer was cool and heard the right story. so he’s F'd and paying for my poor bike and hospital bills.


You can see where my frame slider ripped a gash through the side of his door.
the bike actuall held up good i think the forks might be tweaked. (phone pics)

Yeah, those rapid and spontaneous U-Turns are
totally dangerous and need to looked out for.

My dad told he saw a guy get killed in Japan while looking out his hotel
window. Guy pulls a fast U-ie and the bike going straight never even
got to figure out what happened.

Same thing almost happened to me on the costal highway in California. Guy in a pickup was slowing and edging to the right before going into a pull-off on the other side of the road. I ended up going off the road and into some tall grass but luckily kept it up on two wheels and didn't hit him.

Sorry to hear it happened that way but it's good that there was a cop there who understood the situation from your perspective.

If you didn't get up swinging, i'm suprised this didn't push you over the edge. Seems like this tool had total disregard for your safety and the safety of anyone else on the road. Was he cited for the illegal turn on the scene?
