Honestly, I see threads on this, like this one, 6 pages in a day, and ask myself who really gives a fuck what other people wear? The thought honestly never crosses my mind, it's not my skin. I do, occasionally, feel bad for the broad on the back with the bonehead driving, but that's on her for bein a bike lovin cock whore.
As for me, as if it's any of your business, I wear what the fuck I want. Generally (98% of the time) I wear full gear, but on a rare occasion (yesterday for example) I will wear boots, jeans, t-shirt, gloves helmet. I've ridden in shorts before. I've ridden without a helmet before. I might do it again. I know the risks I'm taking, and I'm okay with the consequences if something happens.
The point of this book is, I wear what I want and it's none of your fucking business. You should do the same, and it's none of mine. Don't try to look cool, don't feel you "have" to wear anything more (or less) than you feel is necessary. I understand that you only ask out of curiosity, and perhaps to get ideas for hot weather gear, and this isn't an attack. WEAR WHAT YOU WANT, RIDE YOUR RIDE. If you don't like what I wear or how I ride, don't fucking ride with me.
I do this on hot days that I can't avoid riding because I really hate the heat. It works great!
On hot days I get dehydrated real easy and then I get loopy. I fill the bladder
with ice and water. Put it under my jacket, it keeps your inner core
cooler and you can stay hydrated.
I NEVERwear ANYthing LESS than full gear... 24/7/365... even when I'm just hangin out & playin Guitar Hero w/ mah boy Degsy.

I won't ride without gear. Haven't been out all weekend due to the heat. Instead I sat by the pool. Much more comfortable.

on the whole, that was disturbing, some warning would help.
I wear gear, even today when it was africa hot, the only thing I can say is that usually the people who flaunt wearing no gear are not you semi-pro riders, they are the people that give us a bad name, do all sorts of dumb shit and then crash and have no insurance, so everyone else gets screwed.
so if you have full medical, I say ride like crazy, be half naked, go for it. ( I so need a light colored perf jacket)

...now that's a GOOD rider.

I won't.
Not an attack on dx3162 or anyone else but that is my "choice".
As for all you peps that choose to ride sans gear. There is nothing anyone can do to stop you. I would hope that listening to others about the positives of wearing gear might get you to change your mind.
I honestly see NO ARGUMENT for not wearing it. This "It is my choice" argument is bunk. Explain to me what benefits it has to not wear gear other than "gear is too hot or inconvenient" because I can show you 10 reasons why you should wear it. Especially a helmet, gloves, pants and a jacket.

I'm not trying to start an argument or a war here, but when it's hot, and i'm going somewhere reasonable close, I leave off my leather (and I don't have a mesh, would probably wear it if I did). I seriously could care less what other people wear as well, and if you have time to try & persuade others into wearing gear, well, you have too much free time. People are gonna do what they want...if I'm riding spirited, or going on an NESR ride, it will be all the gear, because I know thats what is safe and expected, but please, don't worry about what I wear to work, or lunch, or the flip flops I wear at hampton
...apparently I have too much free time as well...
