Thanks to Ted for letting me play with his decibel meter I now know just how obnoxious my bike really is. I tested my brothers 675 with a Jardine at the same time for a little comparison.
2006 Triumph 675 w/ Jardine slip on:
Idle: 92Db
4,000:115Db
Red line: 118Db
1999 Ducati 748 w/ hollow V&H
Idle: 95Db
4,000: 110Db
Red line: 128Db
This test was done a little quick because my garage is in a pretty dense neighborhood so it was a single pull on each bike before someone called the cops. I think my 4K reading should have been a little higher but with only a quick single pull it's hard to tell. In the spring I'll get a more accurate reading (hopefully it wont be preformed by a LEO)

Is this another attempt to tell us all how your bike is the mother fuckin shit?
I am trying to find a way to quiet down my gixxer at the moment too. Have a D&D on it right now and have a Vance and Hines that I am going to try. Don't have much hope for it though. Will probably end up building one myself. I don't even want to know what it blows right now.

You'll want to take the reading outdoors and measure how far away you are. Then we can calculate how legal you're not.

actually, no, 3500rpms is the test level, my SV used to pass just barely, @ 2800 rpm ( rpms for twins & thumpers to test at, nice of them to give an edge to harleys) @ 5000rpm, I was pumping out 120db but still passed , I'd be willing to bet the duc, cause its' a twin passes easily, the T, maybe not

OMG your bike is loud... that makes me so![]()
Original
If I get a chance I'll run it at 2,800 and see what I get. I went with 24" at a 45 degree angle. I'm going to try the different settings on the reader to see if anything makes a difference, it was set on slow which takes a full second to read but the fast setting is only 1/10th of that and there is another setting that I don't fully understand yet.
Still haven't gotten around to throwing on the vented cover so the clutch is still relatively quiet
I'm working my way up the real bike chain
The sticker has been gone for a while, some asshole stole the fucking thing
Nope, mine actually runs right
From what I've seen they are pretty close to most other dynos, give or take a couple HP. There's more power in it, not that much but a little, it still needs to be tuned.
OMG so are you![]()
