What's the legal limit again?

If I get a chance I'll run it at 2,800 and see what I get. I went with 24" at a 45 degree angle. I'm going to try the different settings on the reader to see if anything makes a difference, it was set on slow which takes a full second to read but the fast setting is only 1/10th of that and there is another setting that I don't fully understand yet.

I didn't quote the next part of the law, but your supose to use the "A" scale on the DB meter, fwiw, it's the setting with the quickest responce and gives the highest reading

I had a hollow V&H on my SV as well, it was much quieter right after I first bought it, but after 80,000 or 90,000 miles or so, without repacking it got rather loud especialy after the baffles completely disintigrated and blew out the end

that 2800rpm engine speed really gives twin sportbikes a big advantage in meeting the requirements

This meter can be used in A or C along with either fast or slow. I should have Friday off from work so I should be able to get a better reading during the day when people are less likely to bitch about loud noises.

You need to come to grips with the fact that you have a striped down, under powered, base model, coyote hunting, Ducati, wanna-be super bike, where the best thing on it is a disgraceful "shocker" decal. Oh yea, and it's painted the wrong color too!

actually, no, 3500rpms is the test level, my SV used to pass just barely, @ 2800 rpm ( rpms for twins & thumpers to test at, nice of them to give an edge to harleys) @ 5000rpm, I was pumping out 120db but still passed , I'd be willing to bet the duc, cause its' a twin passes easily, the T, maybe not

When I first read your post, I assumed you were inside the garage. Measuring outside the garage is better, but you will not have a reasonable measurement until you have eliminated reflective surfaces. A building 20 feet away is reflective. Try to measure in a wide open outside area.

sound meters are very directional where they pick the sound up from, at least mine is, think of a sophisitcated listening device that you can pick one voice out of a crowd of talking people

1. It only hunted down one coyote
2. It says superbike on the tail so it must be one
3. Some ass fuck stole that sticker a couple weeks after I put it on
4. I'm stripping it down for paint and powder coat this weekend
