I'd avoid carrozzeria wheels. Saw multiple motards with those wheels experience holes in the rim which allowed the air to leak out. Seem like poor quality.

Re: Are wheels worth the coin?

if i had the money id pick up some nasty aftermarket, however i have a 2003 kawi 636 which rims i despise. 3 spoke and just not appealing. soooo i picked up a pair of rims off a 2005 kawi 636. not mounted yet but they should look good!

so what it comes down to is what you want to spend and what look you want, obviously lighter is better over all, so do as you like and if you have that much extra money ill take some haha
    good luck

That may be the case with the spoke wheels from carrozzeria but my forged vstars are built fine, not BST/OZ/Marchesini quality but still good IMO.

I've also heard fitment isn't that great on some the street bike wheels. not first hand account though.

I was at Grattan when AMA regular Tim Hunt broke a BST wheel when he hit a bump. I didn't get to see it because he took off shortly after. He gets them free so it wasn't a big deal but if it were me I'd be pissed. Way too many bumps and crap on the street for me to take a chance with them.

I would spend it on track days. But my schedule doesn't give me the free days during the season..
Dude- stop making excuses for not taking your riding skills to the next level by riding at the track.... But I wouldnt ride your R1- too pretty of a bike. Get something less expensive and lets do some days together this year..... you wont regret it.

What kind of street riding are you doing that makes you so concerned about the performance gains?

Re: Are wheels worth the coin?

I just got wheels for my RC last week,(OZ Spidernet Forged) They are lightly used but in great condition and no longer available. I wasn't planning buying rims at the moment but just happen to be at the rite place at the rite time and a deal was made. I still haven't touched the front end and that was the next thing on the list but looks like it will have to wait till next winter. ordered tires last night, cant wait!

Good luck on the purchase when you make a decision. I'll be happy to help heavily fund your investment when you come do my driveway.
