Exclamation HELP!! Need truck to get bike home

Well I thought I had a truck I could use to get my stranded bike home, but I was wrong.

And with the mileage to get a truck out to Williamstown, MA and back would cost me $177 in mileage charges alone from U-Haul.

It's looking like an all-day event, so anyone who's willing to help, there's a case of beer, and all gas and food paid for the day.

    Here's where the bike is:
    260 Main St, 01267 - Google Maps

Hoping to leave for there about noonish.

Have you looked at renting a pickup from hertz or enterprise or one of the car-rental agencies? They may have no-mileage options that are more palatable than UHaul.

Most of those have smaller pick-up locations, but are closed on Sundays. The nearest airport os 40 minutes away, in the opposite direction.

Re: HELP!! Need truck to get bike home

Should change the name of this thread to "need a helicopter"

Ended hooking up w/ Matty (Mr Tomato) and not much to talk about on the way out there, except torrential rain. Left at 1:00pm and got there at 3:00pm.

The ride back, however... Let's just say that we're still on the MassPike and are only at Sturbridge. We're going to drop the bike at GMD and probably have the adjuster go out there and have Peter fix her up w/ the 17" conversion.

I was in Maine, but keep my Number on Speed dial next time you need help. I have a big truck with ramps, a canyon Dancer and many tie downs...

Dude, my truck was sitting in my driveway all day with the condor and ramps in the back. If you had called me you could have taken it. I was teaching ERC to a hog chapter all day.

Funny thing, I thought about calling, but my mind was in a scramble and then Matty, my savior, PMed me. Since he's pretty close, it worked out great.

The other thing was that you mentioned that you would have let me borrow the truck. When I mentioned you to my wife, she said, "yeah, he's like that, and that's a rare gift, honesty."

Once I get my trailer legal, I'll be willing to help, too. It's a bit lacking right now (not inspected and no running lights, so no operating after dark being the biggest issue at the moment). I felt bad about not offering to help yesterday, but the math suggested I'd have been heading back after dark.

Re: HELP!! Need truck to get bike home

OK, putting it out there once again. I need to get my CBR from my home in Blacstone, MA to GMD in Bellingham, MA. A 3 mile trek, but I don't have a pickup or trailer and the rear rim is obviously not able to be driven on.

So, I'm pleading my case to NESR again. I spoke to Peter yesterday and he'd been closing up at 5:30ish, so it would have to be dropped off before them.

Wish I could commit to helping you, Chuck.
Unfortunately, my truck is in for a wheel bearing Weds and then I get to do front pads and rotors after I get it back.
