1999 yz400f

hey guys,

ive been trying to move to a bike with some more torque. been looking at 250 smokers and just came across a guy wanting to trade a 99 yz400f for a 125 smoker. any experience with this bike. i see it wasnt out for very long before they moved to the 450s. so is it a bastard step child bike i should stay away from or is it a decent ride. i dont mx or do anything hard core, just some trail riding with friends. it will probably get put away wet most the time. any motor issues or other silly issues with this bike?

From my reading, the 99s are a bit heavy compared to the new 450s, and underpowered (40hp compared to 50+ out of the current crop) but they are near bullet proof if maintained properly. If you're not gunning for a trophy, I don't think it'd be a bad machine.
