The Summer Nationals are going downhill...I've gone to them since year one and up until about 4-5 years ago they were worth going to . Dont know if the times changed or Mosscofian got greedy but when he moved the cars away from the prime parking areas and moved the vendors up , this ' car show ' went south . The cars draw the people NOT the garbage items most of these carnival vendors sell . When I was told to park my car on a steep grassy hill instead of around a picture-perfect lakeside spot , THAT was the end of the Summer Nationals for me .
I realize these are MY thoughts and many people continue to love this show so it's just one mans opinion...![]()
To quote you and to clarify things. Parking on the hill became a necessity based on the abundance of vehicles at the park. Noone ever TELLS anyone where they Need to park. With about 5k cars in attendance throughout the weekend it can get tought to find parking. As the saying goes.... The early bird gets the worm. (when it comes to parking). It took One of my dads workers 45 minutes to get from one end of the park to the other while in a police cruiser lights and sirens going because it was so packed..
Im very sorry to hear you didnt havea great time. Next year let me know when your going and i will do what i can to make the show more enjoyable for you.

Park parking is difficult if you don't get there early, I did and had great parking. I can't drive up the hill my car bottoms out. Downtown is another story, but it is the way it is... I took my bike at night and didn't have problems with parking.
My only suggestion is for those that preregister, it would be nice to get the vehicle parking tag and wrist bands in the mail instead of having to go in to the hotel the day of. I could not find a place to park, luckily I had my girl with me and she ran in while I drove around.
