Don't be like me: figure out where the on-off switch is BEFORE you head out on track.
Actually.. just leave it on. I borrowed his gray timer last Friday. (Thanks again man!) I kept turning it on and off again between sessions. I either got the switch backwards and kept turning it off-instead of on-when heading on track. Or it overwrote the previous session each time I power cycled it. But either way, Roland only had data for the very last session of the day.
It seems these gadgets can be left on all day without issue. Probably a safer bet.
I also mounted it such that the POI button got mashed a lot. Don't do that either.
You can always use mine, Ox.
If I run it, I'll be in intermediate anyways, so we can keep swaping it back and forth.

QStarz 1000EX will fill up the storage space, if you get lots of track time during a Track Day. I suggest making sure it is cleared of data & fully charged prior to starting the day & downloading the data a Lunch break, clearing the data & should have enough space to finish off the day. Yes, just leaving it turned on is a better bet, since it goes into Power-save mode & wakes itself back up with movement.
The 6000 model will hold plenty of laps, but also needs to be charged fully to ensure good battery life. This model also works best if you enter a Beacon file with multiple segments for a given track ahead of time, to get best overall ideal optimum lap time, otherwise it just keeps track of full laps, without segment times.
And here are the results of your top 3 laps for that one session you did use the GPS!

You've met a guy that could theoretically help with that. He's got incentive now too.

I usually got cleaner data by mounting it on the tail.
