what i liked about larry was he was a function over form guy no forks raked out six feet. you could hit the twisties on one of his bikes. he was a true biker in the sence his whole life was about the love and art of motorcycles. i've had about enough "chopper shows" but he was the real deal. rip![]()
No helmet + stunting...![]()
Sad yes, but only so sad knowing it was his choice.

I remember seeing him on a few programs on discovery. He was going down the highway doing various stunts (standing up on the seat, facing the other way, etc) without any helmet or decent upper-body protection (leather vests don't help much I imagine) I was like, "Look at this idiot. He'll lose it one day and he'll be all done."![]()

RIP Bro.. keep it real in heaven..![]()
How is he an idiot for doing that? If I ever started to stunt, I myself wouldn't even think about doing it without gear. But he lived his life as he wanted. That does not make him an idiot. What's the point of life if you're not living it like you want? I don't find it sad that he died simply because it was his choice and he died doing something he enjoyed. It doesn't make him an idiot. Not a bad way to go as opposed to crapping your pants on a nursing home bed at 90.Originally posted by bentbryan

that is SAD SAD news.... I always wanted to meet him. He was one of the first people that got me interested in motorcycles. I remember seeing him on the cover of a motorcycle magazine when I was younger and I bought the mag (I think it is stored away somewhere with all the stuff that I wouldn't let my parents throw away when they moved). As blackvfr said, he WAS the real deal and that is what I liked about him too...
Sad day for the motorcycle community![]()
Bras cause cancer.
and I am sure that he has no regrets for the way he lived either. He always said that he loved his life and the way he lived it. I am sure he didn't want to die but i bet he didn't have any regrets in his life.Originally posted by Pappy

Well in my book, if you lack self-preservation, you're an idiot. I'm all for taking risks, but those risks need to be managed. This example clearly illustrates it, because he's DEAD. I'm not glad this happened or think he deserved, just that he had it coming.Originally posted by Pappy

And there are worse things than death. Like living until you're 90, crapping your pants the whole time, drolling over yourself and being fed intraveniously because you smashed your head while stunting without a helmet.![]()

Everyone who's 89
Listen; especially you youngins
Babies born today may live to 120 with most of that being alert and productive. Us 50+ can live into our 80's with reasonable care.
If you "f" yourself up you get to live with that; that whole time.
Indian larry lived his own life and made his choices, I would not have thought less of his show if he had a full face and jackets etc.
The Harley guys at speed limit minus 5 may be making a reasonable gamble but anyone pressing a limit should always

So, are you saying all soldiers are idiots? I don't understand how you can view someone as an idiot because their level of accepted risks is greater than yours. You're no different than all the non-riders that say we're idiots for riding. It's a level of risk that we accept because of the joy we recieve from it. It's not a risk they're willing to take. It doesn't make us idiots. He loved riding and stunting without a helmet. The risk was worth it to him because he enjoyed it that much. It's not a level of risk I'm willing to take. That doesn't make him an idiot because he's willing to risk more than I am.Originally posted by bentbryan

Well, for one. I don't think you can compare soldiers and riders. Soldiers take risks for a greater good. We ride because it's fun, not because lives are at stake. I'm sure he loved stunting w/o a helmet, and he obviously felt it was worth the risk...Originally posted by Pappy
