I'm looking at buying a new one so I can go out with my gf. I had one in Vietnam and another in Europe when I was living there but they were older models. I loved them. Is the new one the same roughly or of lesser quality? I've seen a few posts of things like handle bars snapping on drops and little things like that. I don't mind up grading parts but if it has more serious issues I would probably just look for an older bulletproof one.
.
That bike looks like an *amazing* deal. I've had my eye on a yellow Trail 125 for similar duties (after one of my bikes sells, or if I convince myself to further abandon reason) but this 150L is $1000 cheaper.

Agreed. I just need a woods beater. My Chinese 250 did well but the suspension was so oddball it couldn't be upgraded much. These xr150's can be modded to the hilt for cheap money. 200 shmeckles for a big bore kit I can put in in an hour.
$3299 brand new???? Just buy it.
Technically you can find them for $2600 new. 3000 is MSRP. I will probably buy one as soon as a slot opens up in my garage. I have the ns125r up for sale so that should go soon.
I got the $3299 directly from Hondas website

No worries. The XR150L is heavier than the CRF230L, made in Brazil vs Japan. From the Japanese bikes, the CRF230L was one of the lightest. Old tech and slow compared to a water cooled CRF250L, but also 50 lbs lighter and much lower. I sold mind to a friend's wife and repurchased it for the same price 5 years later just to sell it eventually to another friend's girlfriend from lack of use![]()
Crazy the 150 is heavier than the 230!
I got outvoted on my daughter getting a 150r, she got an 85 instead and its a fucking animal

I think the 150l is 280 ish but I'm too lazy to look up the stats. It is filled with cheaper heavy material so you can probably drop 20-30 lbs easily. That big rack on the back that's standard feels like it's solid pig iron and the handlebars appear to be thick cast aluminum. I would love to strip one down to woods bike level and see what you get.
that 282 lbs. is curb weight, not dry weight that most mfg. advertise, I assume means with oil and full tank of gas. Dry weight of my K-pipe is only 225

Dry weight is not very useful as it doesn't represent riding weight. That's why I put the wet weight of the crf230L which is relatively low and suspiciously similar to the xt225 where they only advertise the dry weight (somewhere around 249 dry). I do wonder if the plan was to take the existing crf230f and make a dual sport version that is shorter and mimics the successful xt225.
ya, dry weight is a spec numbers gimmick, which I don't quite get my k-pipe for instance, couple quarts of oil, 1.2 gallon gas tank, what's the curb weight, 240 maybe, still a low number, mine with the 190cc motor, maybe 245, I still weigh more than the bike
got me wondering if I can put that xr150 19" front wheel on my k-pipe, rear is same size, might have a better selection of tires

Damn, those look like fun little whips!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Great for tooling around the yard or in the woods. Terrible for trying to keep up with your friends on ktms.

Personally I'm a fan of hitting the engine off button or taking the keys out of the ignition and tossing them lol
