Thumbs up Why don't we have these ads on this side of the pond?

All drivers should see/hear these public service announcement from the UK...

How close does a biker have to be.

I'd imagine those may be a bit more effective than the "motorcycles are everywhere" bumper stickers. Our country at large is full of pansies though, and some activist group for something inane would cry about that ad for some reason....

Exactly right. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new VW ads that show similar accidents. People are so worried about not hurting certain groups feelings they lose sight of the importance of the messages.

The second link had some great analogies, which as a salesman, I know work great to help get a point across to stubborn/closed-minded people. I'd love to hear something like that on the radio.

Hes driving on the wrong side of the road!? That was really my first response haha. I think those would do great here, but will the DOT fund it?

I seriously doubt it. But I bet you could get a conglomerate of sponsors. There is no way it would ever fly in the states.

I don't understand...why would the US not want that ad, for exemple. I don't get to see what's wrong about it?? WTF??

We (NESR members) know why people SHOULD see the ad. It is the fact that people in the US get too shook up when they see realistic events happening when they don't expect it.

I agree, it's too bad since it could prevent a lot of accidents and even more importantlly more deaths.

in addition to the VW commercials though alot of car insurances are posting that. perhaps it would be a good "awareness" ad sponsored by an insurance company.

As good as the overall point of the vid is, I dont think the bike is in first shot when the man looks right, (maybe im wrong, but try slowing it down or going frame by frame) there'd probably be some backlash over that.
