I moved back to Maine from Mass and need to get my bikes inspected in the Augusta area.
Somehow searching in google and the maine.gov site:
-Maine motorcycle inspection
-augusta maine motorcycle inspection
-augusta maine motorcycle inspection stations
turned up no hits.
Any help would be appreciated.
Nothing more irritating when you search something pretty obvious in google and get shit for results
Maine.gov has a PDF of the inspection laws/procedures. I haven't bothered with a sticker in about 8 years, but last time I did it was simple lights, good tires and functional horn. I believe now the sticker is supposed to be on the license plate. If you are in Augusta the Suzuki dealer could probably answer any questions.
I just need a location bro
edit: I see youre in augusta!
if you see a large man on an atk605, xt225 Yamaha, or an rc51, gmmie a wave!
Paul Blouin Suzuki, western ave in Augusta
thanks! (I bought my sti at charlies right near there)
know any sketchy'er places / non dealership places?
(the atk is an odd bike, and my rc is loud as shit)
Loud as shit will likely not pass. Hard for sketchy places to keep their license status as the state police love to harass them about stickers on improper machines.
Odd on the other hand isn't an issue, as long as you've got a current registration and the bike meets inspection requirements you're good to go.
I do, but its over on the coast...Reeds Cycle, good dude. Also you could try Belmont cycle which is 45 mins east. Or just say fuck it and go without like I do. That probably just fucked me tho and now I'll finally get busted for it. I'll keep an eye out for you around disgusta
well, technically on the atk, the headlight is cracked, the horn doesn't work, and the exhaust is cracked a bit....
cant wait to try to inspect the sti....
xrocket21,
There is a place in West Bath that I go to that is very lenient on inspections, at least for me, I register six m/c's a year and he inspects them all...
If a ride to the Midcoast area is not out of the question for you, gimme a scream and I'll send you his info. I cannot think of anyone else in the Augusta area either other than the dealer network there.
That ATK should at least have the horn working, try and trace that down. The cracked headlight and exhaust will pass prolly.

Thanks for the help!
When I got the ATK it had a small electric buzzer for a horn that just beeped, wasn't loud. I replaced it with a small car horn, and the electrical system just isn't enough to make that honk, not sure why.
Sure it's not just a matter of adjusting the set screw on the horn?
XT225 is inspected!
1 down, 2 to go.
They were really nice there, very friendly. I'm happy to have them local, thanks for the reference!
ATK failed god damnit
What'd it fail for?
when I brought the XT in, they did a pretty half assed inspection and didn't check the horn so I just brought the ATK in. The horn works, its just weak, but they failed me for the horn not working.
I cant tell you how much I loathe the inspection process

So I finally got around to giving it another shot.... and I got the sticker
first time with the XT, they never checked the horn, next visit with the atk, they check the horn and I fail. Fix the horn, go back, and they don't even check the horn and I pass
