Thinking about one, new if possible.
Any thoughts other than all the talk in the magazines?
Anyone have one of these in the stable?
Also, I have to take note of ZRX1200. Again, any owners of feedback would be great.
I have been on bikes for 24 years now and can see some pros and cons to both bikes.
Thanks

Heard lots of good stuff about em just like you Eric...fantastic riding position too...much more comforatble than a Busa. Feels alot like my 9R. A very nice in-between ST and SS riding position.
AND...they have the Black w/ Green decals Monster Edition ZX-14 at RSM up here and it is SICK!!!! You should put it on lay-away before some squid like me grabs it and folds it up on the interstate.

I've been lurking for a while, finally have knowledge on something. I've had a ZX-14 since 06. Great bike. I've owned cruisers and 600s, and at this point I don't think I would switch back.
There is plenty of power everywhere, yes it is heavy but as long as you respect the weight and power, there are no issues. Brakes are some of the best I've seen.
As far as comfort, I think it is extremely comfortable. I have done multi-day tours on it. The only changes I've made were heli-bar risers and a double bubble windshield.
The only problems I am aware of are the 06-07 years had a recall on the frame for possible over-torqued engine bolts. I was one of the unlucky ones with a cracked frame, the frame was replaced under the recall. No other issues so far unless you count the fact that it eats rear tires. There are a couple of other web-sites dedicated to the zx-14, they have far more info than I can pass along in a post. Any other specific questions just let me know.
If you liked the REX and want something with a lot more oomph, you will really enjoy the ZX-14. It is very comfortable, easy to control, handles surprisingly well, and will rip your arms off if you want it to. If I didn't own a 12R right now, I would have the 14.

The bike is known to "fold" and "eat tires"? Ha!
I might have to make a trip upstate and check out the monster edition.

Perhaps a trip to your eye doctor is overdue?
I appreciate the Hayabusa for it's qualities but the back end of the 08 leaves a bit to be desired. Not as bad as the B-King.
HAve you seen the new green/black combo as well as the new copper?
there was a roll-on test on highway between zx14 and rsv1000 last summer. rsv1000 jump ahead every time and i think throu all gears. not so great power down low.
"fuckit!"
Remind me to never let you get a ripper on my bike
Eric...just do it. You know you wanna
Then head north a piece with it and get in on some rides. Well you have about 60 miles north to get to my location, I think. But that 14 on the highway (straight shot up to my area) you'd be able to do it in I dunno, 20 minutes?
Go for it I say, I'm not seeing any negative comments in the other posts. New bike smell, new bike rides, it doesn't get any better than that...and the damn thing will put a grin on your face every time you hit the saddle. Mine is an 07 and it still makes me grin...just not so much when I get behind those animals on the RSV's![]()
A Gen2 FZ1 with a few certain mods will give any of the aformentioned Kwaks a run for their money....the 14 included.
Hell, even my Gen1 has kept pace with the big boys on countless occasions.
Yes, the big bikes are powerful but all of them take a fairly long time to stretch their legs. Once they're under full steam, look out! But it leaves the question "where are you gonna need all that on a twisty mountain road?".
Admittedly, I'm biased to the Fizzy simply because I've seen firsthand what they are capable of.
Go get any new open class Jap sport bike (XX, busa, ZX14)... bring it to my house... get beat by a 1000... badly...![]()
