Well, I thought I didn't get any damage

I met up with stevecbr900rr and Duey on 11/11 up in Malden for what turned out to be a really nice day for riding and shooting the shit.

Against how I normally go into the city, which is 495N to the Pike east, I decided to do 495S to 95N to 93N. On the way up the Expressway, I was behind a minivan that kicked up what looked like a 2 foot section of 4x4 wood. It felt like it hit my left peg and bounced off the side of my rear wheel. I looked for damage in that area and found none, so I thought I got off without a scratch...

...until today when I looked at my left lower and discovered a hole and a good sized crack. Luckily, there wasn't any damage done to the lower radiator hose, which was just inside where the 4x4 hit.

Now my bike is no longer extremely clean, so I'm pretty bummed. I looked into buying new plastic, but a new lower left and middle left (it was scratched too) is almost $500....YEOW!

Anyone do any bodywork? Photo below...

Talk to Jamie, SkierX. He had a piece plastic welded when we hit some road kill. I dont see how you couldnt notice that though. Kinda noticable.

Because I didn't look in that area at all and it curves inward, so you wouldn't notice unless you deliberately looked at it.

I don't think plastic weld would work, since there's a hole. It's about 1" x .375".

Well, I put feelers out there on a few CBR/Honda forums I post to. Let's see if someone out there has a used one in good condition.

I looked on eBay, but the only red one had body work done to it.

I just want to be able to bolt it on. Am I asking too much?

i feel your pain...my tail section came loose at some point and as a result i broke most of the tabs that hold it on...

Looking back, it actually could've gone a lot worse. If I had been a second closer or further away, there might've been a disastrous outcome, like being thrown from the bike at 75mph.

Wow what the fuck!...how the hell... i didnt even see it, i was all over that bike that day. I remember you telling me and D what happened but that was the end.

Sorry bud i feel for ya. I have alot of extra parts for my bike that would fit yours, but not that piece. To bad, if i had it i would have just given it to ya. Sorry Bud.

Just went down the basement to check on something, but its the lower left to the ZXR 750. Worth a shot, i'll keep my eyes on the lookout for ya.

I could swear I look all over, too. I even put it up on the stands the same day and I stand right next to where the crack is to put it up on the stands.

However, I did ride into work yesterday. Maybe it didn't happen Saturday, but when it was parked on Milk St in Boston yesterday. Doesn't seem likely, though, since there was another bike parked to my left and there is no parking to the left of where I parked the bike.

Oh well.

Well, I took the advice and wrote peachpit an email, with an attached photo, seeing what they can do for me.

If it turns out that he'd be over $250, I'll just get a new lower. I'm really hoping that it'd be more like $150.

We'll see, I guess.

Where? When? How? Are you saying it would only cost a few dollars to get this fixed?? How about the repainting, since there's a pretty big hole there?
